IBM X3650 M2 - Question about HDD capacity limitation & CPanel alternative

Thread Starter
Hey everyone. I recently purchased the IBM X3650 server but I read some forums and I saw something about limitation on the RAID controller. Something about 146GB limit on one drive on the older controllers or controllers with older firmware. I can install 8 drives total, and I want to use drives larger than 146GB. Can you tell me a quick way to know for sure what's the limit IF there's a limit. I'm new to servers because I never had one.

Also can you tell me which free alternative to CPanel is best, because I'm on a tight budget.
Vesta CP, zPanel, Centos Web Panel, ServerPilot, Froxlor, Kloxo.

And a random question. Do you know where I can find a manual because I need to know more about it, especially some icons and buttons I never saw in my life. I have a blinking exclamation mark, I have another Lighthouse button blinking in blue, and some other lights and stuff I don't quite understand.

Thank you so much!
Greetings.

1. Look here. Maximum drive size is specified as 600GB, but that's likely due to what was available in the market at that time.

2. Webmin?

3. Problem Determination And Service Guide. Other manuals.

Hope these help. smile.gif

Thanks a lot. The lighthouse button was a location beacon. The yellow flashing light was an error, one of the drives was pulled while on and I had to reconfigure it, showed Bad drive. And I ordered an SSD, I will try it and see if it works.

Is Webmin best? Thanks.

I've no idea; I've not tried any of the others you mentioned (apart from cPanel).
