INFO / CONCERNS
To be used for Schoolwork, web browsing. OS, monitor, mouse and keyboard needed. No gaming. It seems Pentiums would fit the bill best, but I'm not averse to using AMD either.

Did G3258 Windows 10 compatibility ever get fixed? Windows X64 with only 4gb...

Please share your thoughts. Thank you. smile.gif

Good build. Overall, the Pentium works great for that and I never knew it had W10 problems?

Is a 1TB HDD really necessary? If you don't need so much capacity, it might make more sense to have a SSD if for no other reason than to make the computer boot and shutdown faster as well as be more responsive in overall operation. I imagine a 120 GB SSD would be just fine. If you do actually need the capacity, a hybrid drive would be nice but making it fit the budget might be difficult.

I don't understand why some of the prices are inaccurate.

Because the OP put them in. Maybe used part prices?

G3258 did at least, in mid 2015.

Amazon Prime. Had to do manual input to display price - shipping charges. Sorry for the confusion.

I was hoping to find a $30 500gb HDD plus a 120gb SSD, but can't find anything much less than a WD Blue. Maybe a 240gb ssd would be sufficient...anyone have any recommendations?

Really appreciate the help. +rep love. thumb.gif

I didn't look hard enough. Maybe a $20 320gb Caviar Blue plus a 120gb SSD. Any recommendations? Reliability and warranty is more important than speed. Might have to buy one myself and see if they're really worth it. smile.gif

Also trying to decide between ASRock H97M Pro4 and the MSI.

(Please pardon the double post).

Proposed build 2.0: Went with the Adata, it seems decent. Muskin Reactor looks tasty for my personal rig. Paranoid of 1866mhz RAM boot issues.

The completed build:

It lives!

A couple mistakes I made:
1. Ordering a used copy of the OS from Amazon Warehouse Deals. The key was in use
2. Those HDDs are new but old stock with no warranty.

This is a really nice computer for the price, me personally I would have gone with the risk of buying used hardware in order to get some more powerful components like CPU, and GPU. (Not criticism of the build)
I really enjoyed seeing this come to completion.

100% agree. The client was concerned with the warranty and I was paranoid of DOA parts prolonging things or I definitely would have gone that route.

Glad to hear you enjoyed this humble build! smile.gif
