*Please help* Afterburner issues anyone?

I am looking for some feedback from the community here.

I have been playing around for many hours the last few days trying to get my system running at its peak optimal performance level.

The overclocking and everything is going fine, and I've set some decent gains..... however I seem to have an issue...

MSI Afterburner (in particular I believe it to be the Riva Tuner Portion) On a Windows 10 OS

This is a very specific issue that appears to continue to rear its head for myself.

If I have the program running in the background (just for the sake of leaving it at start up) and test with IBT (Max stress test only) I keep getting a series of events that lead to a system crash everytime...

Flickering of the screens (which appears to be a cycling of Nvidia Drivers) and it will lead up to an eventual system Crash... (sometimes only Afterburner itself will flicker leading up to the same OS crash)

Now I would really like to ensure stability, as I am going for a 24/7 overclock a bit below my max clocks.... That said I personally believe this is a Riva Tuner specific problem with IBT using up most of my ram and my CPU cycles being peaked at those same times...

Any feedback guys, or other possible experiences with something like this? Or do I really have an unstable system under the "perfect conditions to crash it every time"

Thanks for any ideas, advice, and tips! smile.gif

I use Afterburner, with a GTX970, never had an issue.

Maybe it is W10? I am on W7.

I guess it win 10 is a likely culprit

I'm using w10 and afterburner and I've never noticed any issues. I don't NORMALLY run afterburner while stress testing but I'm sure it's been running a few times.

I'll check it out when i get home from work, see if I can get mine to Doo the same thing. I usually use x264 but I'll fire IBT up and see what happens.

Have you tried reinstalling afterburner?

yup!

Odd thing too is that IBT runs 100% stable for hours and hours without it up............. as do all my other test beds..... lol.

Side note I've confirmed it happening for me at stock speeds as well.......... 0_o

hmm. just got home so I'll start it up. Are you using IBT V2.54? how long does it usually take to crash?
edit: also is there an afterburner Vx.xx? double also, what stress level are you using?

IBT 2.5.4, Custom 28 GB ram usage, times to run 10...

Overclocking test happens within 15 mins, stock test happens a little slower around 20 mins.... I think I may have a bad windows install or some conflict seeing how it is on stock speeds everything and its happening...

hmm, I passed 10 passes at 11gb and 13GB with afterburner running (i've only got 16gb) but much higher than that and I start running into issues since I've got a lot running in the background. Doesn't seem to be dependent on afterburner at all though.

Does it happen when you run with less ram? 16gb maybe?
