[TH]Re-Boxing My Exploding Galaxy Note 7 In Samsung's Fireproof Box

Well, Samsung has quite the return process, indeed. That box is hilarious!

Some tech sites do unboxing articles/videos, but today I find myself in the odd position of doing a reboxing article covering the Samsung Galaxy Note 7's return packaging. One of the most interesting aspects of the recall is the thermonuclear-proof box that Samsung sent over to contain its exploding progeny. The box within the box is the most interesting. It's sturdy and has a ceramic fiber lining that is about a quarter-inch thick and covers the entire interior surface. The outside of the box has a number of ominous-looking caution signs that warn the contents are of the explosive variety.

"Ground breaking news! A Fed-Ex Truck just flew in to chimney after it was blown sky-high from a bunch of Samsung Galaxy Note 7s!"

I can already imagine something like this happening.

Same box nvidia sent out for the exploding shield tablet batteries, though they didnt require you send the old one back when you got the new one. Many people kept them, rooted and blocked the pushed update that scrambles the tablets brain rendering it dead.

Oh cool!!! Next we'll find out how to DIY make your own kiln fueled by your Galaxy Note 7...

When you get given a Fireproof box....you know something is up. Fairplay however to Samsung for not digging their heads in the sand over this one as I have seen companies get fairly stubborn regarding product faults, granted however this is a serious one.

it would actually make perfect smartphone case
so no one would burn their legs
easy solution is to just swap out the battery

good for samsung I guess, learn a lesson today to make phones with removable battery in the future

Another reason why a non-removable battery is just absurd. Now customers are out of a phone on top of a faulty battery. Could've been a simple fix had Samsung used their heads to being with.

There's more to making the battery not removable besides being stubborn.

1) Make it unremovable, ensure that in 1 or 2 years consumer WILL have to pay for a replacement or simply upgrade phones. This also affects the secondary market, due to used phones simply not holding charge as well with a more expensive fix.
2) On the good side, it does allow for slightly larger batteries due to being able to building them to fit whatever leftover space.

Stupidly enough, only Samsung is going to pay for such a decision, given that their nonremovables are burst prone.

I will try to never buy a a phone without a removable battery, but such is not a popular opinion, look at how populars iPhones have been since release.
