WELCOME TO THE ASUS RAMPAGE V EDITION 10 OWNER'S THREAD
- THIS BOARD WAS SPECIALLY MADE TO CELEBRATE ROG'S 10TH ANNIVERSARY
NEW FEATURES -
AURA - RGB Done Right
- RAMPAGE V EDITION 10 equipped AURA RGB lighting from top to bottom, ensure bright, evenly
distributed illumination of your build, lit up and customize your own favorite LED effect to cast a
stunning multi-color glow across your build, change shades to indicate CPU temperature, or
pulsate in time to the beat of your favorite tunes and a lot of more.
- 5+1 independent on-board LED areas with refreshed AURA software
There are five independent onboard LED grouping - North bridge, Back IO + Audio, PCIE slot,
PCH, Backplate and also the RGB header, while all can be controlled through software AURA.
RAMPAGE V EDITION 10 adopts the world's first RGB header and RGB backplate integration;
user can now take direct control on RGB strips and sync all the lighting effects among all your
modding gears. It's easy to use and can be quickly installed to cast brilliant colors across your
rig and room. The RGB strip header supports standard 5050RGB LED strip with a maximum
power rating of 12V/2A, and the length of the LED strips is recommended to use within 2
meters for best LED brightness.
Refreshed AURA software
AURA lighting control software is the main core of LED aesthetics, it is an RGB color
control software tool that allows users to tweak the colors and brightness of onboard
RGB LEDs. ROG AURA lighting control software includes many effects - Static / Breathing / Strobing / Color cycle / Rainbow / Comet / Flash and Dash / CPU Temperature / Music Effect that change LED color according to audio playback or CPU Temperature.
AURA lighting control equipped with a color palette of 255 colors and brightness control
on the right side of the UI.
- Integrated I/O and backplate
RAMPAGE V EDITION 10 adopts ASUS patent-pending integrated IO shield, a special design
providing more strength on the I/O structure and the most important of all, easier to slide
into a case.
Together with RGB LED integrated backplate, brighten and illuminate your whole board level,
and also can be controllable through AURA lighting control software.
- New Fan IC
Fan tuning is always the case when planning to build an efficient/long lasting/quite system, ASUS
leads the motherboard industry as a pioneer this subject with both software Fan Xpert or through
the UEFI BIOS interface. This stage on RAMPAGE V EDITION 10 we brings you the whole new fan
control IC with the capability of OTP (Over Temperature Protect) and OCP (Over Current Protect)
to protect your fan IC from any criteria, together with "Extreme Quiet" mode for CPU fan and all
onboard Chassis fans, PWM/DC mode auto detection, Water Pump header, and High AMP fan
header.
- High AMP Fan Header
- Water Pump Header
- Fan Extension Card Supported
- ASUS Safe Slot
Metal covered
ASUS SafeSlot provides user a great deal of protection on PCIe slot, reinvented and strengthened
through a new insert-molding process to bind the slot for fortifying metal for superior retention
and shearing resistance, reinforce the best strength on all X / Y / Z axis. This new armor is designed
with the concept to extend longevity and durability while heavy graphic cards are taking place,
ASUS design this ASUS SafeSlot by using metal hook to the plastic slot itself which brings user the
real benefit on PCIe strength in all 3D X/Y/Z axis.
- CPU Installation Tool (CIT)
Placing the processor in/out the socket without bending socket pins can sometimes be difficult
especially for first time users. The new CPU Installation tool provided by ASUS can help user to
place the processor into CPU socket without hassle, it enlarges the surface area for better handling
and the holder is specially designed to clamp to the new CPU socket to decrease accidents and
reduce the chance of bent pins. The operation for CPU Installation Tool, please do not un-buckled
the kit even after installing the processor, just follow the instruction below for quick installation:
Paste the sticker over the CPU pads, insert the CPU into the CIT (align the arrows), remove the
sticker, insert the CIT into the socket and push down until it clicks home, then close the socket
cover and latch both the socket levers - done!

EXTREME OVERCLOCKING GUIDE
ASUS RAMPAGE V EDITION 10
BENCHMARKING BROADWELL-E
Expectation on Ambient
4.4Ghz Core @ 1.4Vcore, above 1.4V not recommended
3.7Ghz Cache @ 1.35Vcache, above 1.4V not recommended
Expectation on LN2
5.2Ghz Core @ around 1.55v set @ ~ -95C
4.4Ghz Cache @ around 1.65v set
CPU mostly maxed out around 1.55v to 1.65v set.
CBB usually around -90C. CB around -95C to -100C
Voltages you need to be concerned with = Vcore/Vcache and CPU Input (~ 2.2v is
enough)
DRAM Channel ranking
CHC (3700+)
CHD (3700+)
CHB (~3600)
CHA (~3500)
Benchmarking pointers
1. Try starting off with Moderate LN2 profile in the OC Presets.
2. CPU ratios may not always apply when changing in OS but you can try
x99_pcratio tool that keeps retrying till it sticks.
3. CPU ratio is sometimes stuck to 35x at boot, always check the applied ratio.
4. It's difficult to boot into OS with close to max cache.
5. Some CPUs don't like to be too cold when entering OS.
6. Boot with at least 39x cache ratio on LN2 mode to engage proper auto rules.
7. PLL Termination voltage may help if experiencing PCIE Gen3.0 stuttering.
Additionally may help improve cold bug up to 5C. Quantized behavior so try in
steps: 1.63v, 1.75v, 1.85v, 2.2v, 2.4v 2.6v, 2.8v.
8. DMI Skew may improve DMI frequency upwards by setting values of -3 to -6.
9. In 4 way by default VGAs will run at x8/x8/x8/x8 and leave x8 for I/O. To run
x16/x8/x8/x8 go into onboard devices and set 4-way config to below.
10. To use VGA card on the PCH X4 slot, go into BIOS, onboard devices and set
config as below.
Extras
New Turbo Boost allows you to adjust ratios by specific cores, the asterisk refers to
the core Intel determines to be the best during production. To boost performance of
lowly threaded apps, install the Turbo Boost 3.0 app/driver and it will prioritize the faster cores.
