I am looking to buy a 13 inch, possibly 14 inch laptop.
I will mainly be using it for browsing, projects, and some streaming.
My priorities are: 1) portability 2) cpu 3) battery life
Any help is appreciated.
Never bought a laptop before so I am trying to be really prudent.
Also, if I wait till black friday, will I get a better deal possibly?
Budget is 600-800.

How long should the battery last? (Under optimal conditions, no movies/games/heavy internet)
at least 10 hrs I think
What games would you like to play with your laptop? And on what settings?

OCN really should mention to add city for regional chains like Frys, Microcenter, Canadian Computers, etc.

Here's two that should at least point you in the right direction spec-wise:

That Dell Inspiron is a great deal, I'm seriously considering it as a gift.

13.3" with i7-7500U, 8GB DDR4, 256GB SSD, and $750. That's a really solid price for the performance and portability it offers.

As far as 2-in-1s, if you decide to get one please do research the screen itself because that's the only reason to get one over a normal laptop.

The flipping/folding ones with digitzers as far as I know are HP Spectre x360 13 and 15 , Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga, Yoga 260 and 460, Lenovo ThinkPad P40

Detachable 2-in-1: Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book, Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S, Asus Transformer 3 and 3 Pro, HP Spectre X2 and Elite X2, Dell Latitude 13 7000, Toshiba Portege Z20t, HP Pavilion 12 x2, Huawei Matebook, Acer Aspire Switch Alpha 12

I have a roughly year old Dell Inspiron 13 7000 series (with i5) which is basically the same thing and I need to warn you about random "ghost touches" some people get and the fact that the touch screen is really not accurate with the stylus pen that basically is a stick of plastic with a piece of rubber on it. It has the accuracy of a of you drawing on the screen with 1/4" permanent marker thickness at least in OneNote. The ghost touches I have experienced a few times when the CPU is strained, it is mainly due to the lag in the driver for the touch screen. The only reason why I didn't return it is because it was not a persistent issue and I bought mine for just over $600 USD new, not refurb/open box (which was a $100 off Microsoft store sale IIRC). The other limitation I found is that it only has a single memory slot so you don't have dual channel on your DDR3L memory.

I have seen reviews stating the HP Spectre x360 13 has a digitizer (needed for a pen that actually does something more than just touch the screen) but it is close to your budget if you get the i5. For one, the chassis is aluminum rather than plastic. I see one on Amazon for under $600 ($569.99 & FREE Shipping): https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-13-s128nr-13-3-Inch-Full-HD/dp/B014X4UAUI/
13-s128nr x360 13.3-Inch Full-HD 2-in-1 Laptop (Core i5 i5-6200U , 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD) ----> upgrade this SSD

A comparable one on Best Buy is about $100 more http://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-pavilion-x360-2-in-1-13-3-touch-screen-laptop-intel-core-i5-8gb-memory-128gb-solid-state-drive-modern-gold/5228155.p?skuId=5228155 , http://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-pavilion-x360-2-in-1-13-3-touch-screen-laptop-intel-core-i5-8gb-memory-128gb-solid-state-drive-gold/5618119.p?skuId=5618119
