The post was made over at the official forum here, and the below prices are in USD.

As you know, Rental Servers for PS4 and Xbox One have gone through EA. Now with Rental Servers going through EA, there's quite a lot of questions. Let's answer some now:

How much will it cost?

PC
1 day: $2.99
7 days: $11.99
30 days: $42.99
90 days: $99.99
180 days: $149.99

PLAYSTATION® 4 / XBOX ONE
1 day: $1.99
7 days: $7.99
30 days: $26.99
90 days: $64.99
180 days: $99.99

When will the Rental Server Program Launch?
We're excited to bring RSP to Battlefield 1 this November.

Yeah, war ain't cheap.
Well this is just disgusting. Is it because the PC version uses more resources on the servers or something? That's a pretty significant price difference.

still cheaper than bf4 tho. it was 60$ or something.

Its hope its because they offer a lot of modding support for PC.

Back when it was 32vs64 player this would have made some sense, but as it stands I don't really see how they justify it..

Higher tick rate perhaps?

I would love for it to be because of a planned 96/128 max player roll out, But I have heard no word of this and doubt they would do it with current maps.

It used to be that you could simply set up your own server, the cost of operation is your problem. Seriously, this is disgusting. I would feel personally INSULTED if I were a longtime player of this series. I can only guess how much worse it can get. I can get more disrespected than that for free, geez.

Anyway, I guess people don't care. There's no reason why PC should be more expensive, whatever anyone says is baloney, unless they have some real technical proof that justifies that pricing (hint: they don't). But like always, people will eat it up.

This, among other similar reasons, is why despite being a huge fan of the first 4 BF games (1942, Vietnam, 2, 2142), I haven't even considered BF4 or BF1. Bad Company was a fun little hold over until the next "real" battlefield... but that next "real" battlefield game never happened, we just got Worse Company 3, Worst Company 4, and now Grandpa's Ugly Company 1. :/

Oh well, at least Planetside 2 exists.

Maybe expensive in your opinion, to others who are eating it up it's a negligible financial hindrance.

Exactly the same reasons everyone has been doing it since the 90's.

Yeah, this has always just been an excuse to get more money out of those would-be server hosts. That and have less control options.

Dedicated servers and modding were the two things that really made BF2 the champion of the mid-2000s.

Those days are gone, sadly. I guess it gets hard to control DLC if players can host their own content, and make their own mods. What's weird now is there are people playing BF who never really had the full experience 0_0

Or someone will reverse the thing and make custom servers that you can run on your own instead of renting some expensive garbage from EA. They have so many users they don't care about pricing anymore.
BF was always so bleh meh, playing BF1 beta that didn't seem to change yet. Way too arcadey with messed up game mechanics.

Meh, buying a server when you were able to self host. Most people say stop living in the past. Advance with the times they tell me. The times seem to equate with fleecing.

Keep an eye out for the hack server. I know we did it for COD4 at the time. My brother-in-law bought a $250 PC off the shelf and left it on 24/7 to host our gaming sessions at anytime.

Hopefully, something like that will be available for BF1 sooner than later.

You can't, you can only rent servers from EA, they are not releasing any server files.

I highly doubt that will happen as noone outside of EA will have access to the server files, not even trusted third party providers this time.

EDIT: For BF4 the monthly cost is about 75.00 for 64 slots. (NFO pricing)
That was my thought, these prices are way cheaper for PC than BF4 was at launch.

Now the million dollar question is,"What type of server control will be available with the rentals?"

Everyone knows EA uses telnet. C'mon.
