The NX is dead, long live the Switch. I must say I am pretty interested in this, and a purchase may be in the works depending on what runs inside and what games are possible. Release in March 2017.

Damn look at that weird little thing. I hope it scales well on a large screen. I honestly couldn't see myself using that much for mobile gaming, maybe on holidays or something. Its definitely very niche.

It uses Nvidia Tegra

A Console Architecture for the Living Room and Beyond

Nintendo Switch is powered by the performance of the custom Tegra processor. The high-efficiency scalable processor includes an NVIDIA GPU based on the same architecture as the world's top-performing GeForce gaming graphics cards.

Nintendo SwitchThe Nintendo Switch's gaming experience is also supported by fully custom software, including a revamped physics engine, new libraries, advanced game tools and libraries. NVIDIA additionally created new gaming APIs to fully harness this performance. The newest API, NVN, was built specifically to bring lightweight, fast gaming to the masses.

Gameplay is further enhanced by hardware-accelerated video playback and custom software for audio effects and rendering.

We've optimized the full suite of hardware and software for gaming and mobile use cases. This includes custom operating system integration with the GPU to increase both performance and efficiency.
Interesting about new API rumours suggested it will use Vulkan

0/10, total scam, would not recommend.
Idk if you noticed but it's a Skyrim ad

Tbh, this console sounds interesting... and as all others will die with only a bunch that ever bought it and lack of games to make it worthwhile.

yeah, the idea is cool of a Transformer device, but it's novelty wears out pretty quickly.

The screen resolution scaling from tablet size to big screen TV will show all the horrible defects from the games.

The reactions going up on Youtube right now are crazy.
The demographic of people live streaming videogame announcements on a Thursday morning is probably a bit skewed toward the "fanboy" side, but so far people's minds are being blown and scattered all over the place.

I'm waiting for more technical information before getting really hyped, but I'll buy almost anything Nintendo sells.
(Battery life is probably the biggest question right now, including the little slide controllers, processor and screen specs are the next big question.)
(Edit: Well I guess both threads are still here...)

I don't really care about handhelds or gaming on the go, so it's a bit of a bummer future Nintendo titles will be held back by the low power platform. Not that that's anything new though. I sold my Wii U a few months back and Switch really needs to have some top notch titles and a low price if I'm ever going to pick it up. Showing Skyrim running on the Switch really doesn't fill me with confidence.

Is it just me or does it look like what the Wii U should've been? It isn't too drastically different, but hopefully the specs will make up for it. Long battery life and Xbox One-level performance would probably go a long way for this.

I'm all in.
I can't find the preorder button but I'm clicking on it.

I assume they don't expect you to use both the buttons and control sticks in the same games...?
They actually have a Wii/U pro wireless like controller you can use instead if you wish.

Nintendo is so disconnected from anything PC related.

Well there goes my hopes for a decently powerful Nintendo console.

Although I will admit it is a pretty cool ideal, but so niche I'm not sure what Nintendo is expecting to get out of this? I mean I do kinda dig the concept but gaming on the go is just not feasible for me. Anytime I am out of the house I'm either working or doing something with friends/family both which has no extra time for gaming. I guess Nintendo is aiming this squarely at the children's market which I can not blame them for as that is where their sales are still the strongest. I just do not understand why they are electing to leave their original fan base in the dust?

I think there is more than enough room for Nintendo to have the Switch & a powerful console that doesn't have mobile capabilities. Sure it might put them in a tight spot financially to foot the bill for the R&D, production, etc. of another console, but they have to know it would be a cash cow if they were to do it. Ever since the Wii people have been screaming for a Nintendo console that can hold it's own against the current PS & XB. I personally think it would outsell the Switch if they were to do something similar to my suggestion. That's Nintendo for you though, they definitely march to the beat of their own drummer. I just hope that they are not marching towards a cliff face!

But you would need Nvidia GPU which would make it another gimmick.
