I have an issue! My "Games" SSD is VERY FULL! I have no space left on my games drive that steam installs all its updates to and games to. I just installed a pcie 3.0 x4 m.2 samsung drive in for steam only...... Please tell me that there is a way that I can (FOR EXAMPLE) move the game "DOOM" from my current "FULL" ssd, to my new blank m.2 drive? Im crossing fingers that this is possible.... I appreciate any and all input!
Yes, it's possible. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common and find the games you want to move to say D:\Steam, then you have to copy the .acf over as well. DOOM for example is 379720.acf. And you will have to add the new folder to your Steam library by going to Steam\Settings\Downloads\Steam Library Folders\Add Library Folder.
thanks everyone, greatly appreciate the feedback. I will try this out in just a few minutes... Doom is in the middle of what looks to be a pretty big update DL, so when that finishes I will do this.
Steam mover works, or you could create a "backup" of your game and uninstall it, then reinstall it with the backup onto new drive. Pretty sure there is a method to copy/paste it as well but backup/restore method should be foolproof.
Sure why not. Just create a new Steam library on the different drive and move the data over including the Steam game description files. That way Steam will detect the game in the new library folder.
I don't see a need for some Steam mover app or what not. And as I see that one actually doesn't move the description files but instead makes a forward link which you can do yourself too if you want, no need for Steam mover either to make a link.
Yes you can with Steam Mover, when I'm not playing a game but don't want to delete it I move it from my SSD to a hard drive and I can still play it
