Need advice on upgrade

I'm wanting to upgrade my sig rig. For now I'm planning on a mb, CPU and ram. Everything else I have is probably ok for now. I'm wanting to get the latest Intel socket (is it the 1151?) and go with a decent CPU that's not very expensive. A good solid mb. I'm wanting one that I'll probably keep for a good while. I'd like a cool running CPU as I'm not really wanting to water cool. Also should I but another 290x lightning? Or just get a better card? Ram, I want to install as much as I need and still have a little headroom. I don't see installing more than I'll ever use.
I'll be playing the latest PC games, photo and video editing. I'd like to be able to play at ultra settings and get 60+fps avg. My budget is flexible but I'd like to be smart about what I'm spending and get the best bang for my bucks.

if possible I'd feel comfortable staying under $600 or not too much over.

For a single Card Get either a i5 6600k/6600/6500(dependinf if you want to OC via BCLK only or Multiplier+BCLK), if you plan using CF maybe an i7 6700k/6700 all on a z170 motherboard with DDR4 >2400MHz

if you buy a 2nd R9 290x ,maybe you would rather hold For Vega which has HBM2 or sell the R9 290X and get 2x MSI RX 480 from jet.com

I would still use the same gfx, its pretty able to do 1080p gaming.
Wait until vega comes around and decide then next GPU.
