Hi,

I have GTX 1060 card and now I am going to buy a gaming monitor but I am confused if I should buy FHD or WQHD monitor. I game like 1/3 of time and the other times I code (text is important) and watch movies so is it worth it to buy a QHD monitor or the FHD is enough ? does games support QHD ?

Thanks

Pretty much every game supports QHD now. You say gaming monitor, 1060 might have trouble maxing settings for QHD @ 144hz on the very latest games, if that is what you are looking for.

QHD is very nice for text, less noticable but still helpful for non-text gaming, though you can pick up high-refresh/lightboost FHD monitor for much cheaper.

1080p is fine for a 24", I'd only go 1440p if I was looking for a 27" panel.

Is the 1060 you have a 3GB or 6GB model?

This ^ well 23" normally as most true 24" screens are 1200p

Edit: The viewsonic OP is looking at is actually a 23.6" so yeah 1080p is fine
:)

There is new Acer Predator XB241YU it is 23.8" WQHD (2560 x 1440) Widescreen with NVIDIA G-SYNC @ $500 so what do you think guys ? go wqhd ?

Note: this is international shipping so I am not buying any other monitor soon
I'm also interested in this monitor of Acer. Sadly there are neither reviews nor user comments as yet. But the idea of 1440p resolution on a 24" panel is exciting. I think there will be no need for anti-aliasing in most games since the monitor has 121 ppi and 0.20mm pixel pitch.

Need for aa is by no means completely eliminated, just noticeably reduced. Small amounts of AA (2x MSAA over 4x) can be preferable as it doesn't blur the image and take away the sharpness as much, while still eliminating any jaggies. I must say some games, like BF1, look better than others without AA. Almost excellent even.

Personally I wouldn't get a Full HD monitor anymore. Except for an OLED one.

Also G-sync should compensate low frame rate if I set settings at high ?
You should be fine with a 1060 for 1440p gaming, however you'll probably need to lower some graphics settings in games. G-Sync is a relief in terms of eliminating screen tearing and stuttering, but it isn't a magic that can offer you 60fps+ smoothness in 30ish range. Nonetheless it offers a much more smooth gaming experience in comparison to V-Sync.

Btw I'm planning to get a 1070 if I ever buy a 1440p monitor.
