Battlefield 1 CPU performance at 144hz - CPU bottleneck - Page 11

Found 2 causes for my high CPU usage with my 4.9GHz 4790K:
1) I had a motherboard hardware monitor module running to read non-standard VRM and other temps/voltages. After disabling, dropped from 90%+ to ~60% usage. HWInfo 64 does warn the first couple of times that it is CPU-intensive -- just forgot.
2) 2nd round on same server causes unstable frame times. In-game frame time graph is all over the place, but CPU and GPU lines are synced. Smooth line in 1st round, but very jagged line in 2nd round. Probably have to disconnect and reconnect.

People are complaining that the i5 is giving them frame drops that means they arent getting a solid 120+ fps all the time. millions of people the world over play games perfectly fine at 60 and even 30 frames per second and this game can deliver on that with an i5 or other quad core. If you want to push games to 120 and 144 frames per second, you need good hardware to do it. You cant just expect to cheap out on parts of the computer and play every new game that ever comes out at resolutions and refresh rates that demand you have the best hardware.

I have a 1070 and a 6600. I'd hardly call that cheaping out and at one point the frame rate was bouncing between 100+ and 20. That's pretty much unusable.

That seems pretty extreme , are you sure your temps are all ok? After about 20 minutes in a 64 person server on ultra settings my cpu and gpu temps rival stress tests - so much so that I pulled the sides off my case. 4.9 ghz 1.47 volts, stock 780ti. 62C max on the cpu, 85C on the gpu.

Why even post lol, just drop your graphic settings to Medium and you'll be fine. You won't even notice the difference once you get into the game.

I have 780Ti SLI and 4930K. Game runs perfectly, maintains a completely steady 110-120fps and looks great (5880x1080p)

my brother had issues with his GTX 1070 and 6600k @ 4.6ghz alot of choppy game play and hard dips in fps

told him to

- right click BF1 in Origin make sure Origin is not enabled while BF1 is running
- right click BF1 in Origin Repair to verify game files
- go into Nvidia panel make sure its on ''single display''(if you only have 1 display ofc) & optimal power to max power/ performance
- make sure you don't have two different sound drivers - if so disable one in device manager
- very rare, but I once had a faulty HD drive which would make BF4 lag every few seconds

hes no longer experiencing choppy gameplay/ hard drops in fps

What are your minimum fps and are you talking 64 player mp or single player ? Make a huge difference.

64 player mp.
Minimum fps: I don't have an exact number, but i havent seen a dip below 70 (or any lag whatsoever) - but I set my graphics settings to achieve exactly that... For online games, especially FPS, i don't mind a slight reduction in the visual quality for a buttery smooth experience, and I can't understand people who are unable to lower graphics settings off Ultra when it's ruining their experience to the point they complain about it on a forum.
