In single player, more or less. But in multiplayer, a 8 cores CPU does make a huge difference, especially to keep a better minimum FPS. I have never seen a game using the CPU as much as BF1 multiplayer.
I have a 4930k + GTX 1070 SLI. 1080p / 144Hz.
All six cores usage is 100%. GPU usage about 50-75% on both GPU. FPS drop to 80 FPS sometimes in some maps.
A 6950X is ten core, using an I7 5960X here myself, this is an eight core CPU, using it with a Titan X Maxwell and was wondering about this game, would be nice to have something that maxed out my CPU cores.
Just a casual PC Gamer though, more of a Flight Simmer here.
Funny someone is asking this - I played on my 2nd rig last night which has a 3970X @ 4.50Ghz and it was at 90% usage - never before have I seen any game use so much CPU.
On the Uber Rig however, the 6950X @ 4.30Ghz hardly breaks a sweat during BF1 - it's around 25% usage.

In general, I'd say a 6950x purchased for the purpose of maximum fps in games is counterproductive.
