Problem with my audio

Hello there, sorry to bother you everyone but please help me!
i have a Yeti blue microphone, that is a USB and has it's own sound card inside, Sennheiser HD 598 headphones plugged into it. The audio files i linked are my issues, when i talk i hear myself all the time. Sometimes i can't hear anyone and they sound robotic even me to others. Sometimes i don't and the problem goes away. So i thought it was my Yeti blue what causing this, so i bought a Modmic and attached it to my headphone, and plugged it together with my headphone onto the onboard sound card. The problem was still there and it didn't go away, i tried a Corsair Headset H1500 and it had the same problem, also ASTRO A40 TR Headset and the same problem as well. I'm honestly confused, and i'm at a point where i don't know if it's my Yeti, or my onboard sound card or some voodoo in my room

Normal recording: Here
On discord and other VOIP: Here

Thanks!

Most usb microphones have input jack on them and you only plug the headphones there in order to hear yourself talk. You should be plugging your headphones into the motherboard instead.

Reading further it might be driver related or something wrong with the configuration of the microphone/headphones in the driver itself
try disabling all the enhancements in the driver and set the sample rate of the microphone to 16bit 44.1kHz see if that helps

EDIT: also xonar drivers on my sound card had a option to hear myself talking when using the microphone.. there might be a similar type of feature on your onboard that is enabled.
also make sure "Listen to this device" is left unticked

Well, i've been using it like this since 2014, the problem happened 2 weeks ago, i did plug it into the onboard sound card but it's still the same like i stated

As for the driver, i did install a fresh windows, still the same. I also changed the rate and nothing. Haha that was the first thing i checked when it happened, for both

If you have another sound card try that, or if possible borrow from a friend who has one.

That would be hard, since my friends use the same setup as mine. And my Yeti Mic is a USB so there's no way to check it on another sound card.
But my question is this, how come all these choices i used were the same results? Is it possible ALL of them is broken >_>?

Unless you check the yeti and the modmic on another machine just to confirm none of them are the problem.. my guess its probably something wrong with your machine

Well yes it counts..

What that means is the problem lies in your setup, hopefully its a software issue and not some other hardware at fault.
Also fill in your system specs Here

Hey @HXHXH,

So as usual, full disclosure I work with ModMic. Don't think it matters here since the hardware is not at fault at all.

Based on your recordings this is going to be tricky to pin down. Since you tested on the PS4 and it works and can record normally we can basically rule out the mic hardware (either the ModMic or the Yeti). If you've tested with both an external sound card and your onboard audio we can probably rule out the soundcard hardware as well. However, (and this was kinda unclear in the above) if it is JUST your onboard audio you're testing with there could be some weird hardware problem. Seems unlikely as the hardware wouldn't know the difference between recording or VOIP.

That just leaves some kind of software conflict.

So the next trick will be to figure out what software is breaking it. Discord and Skype you know for sure. Have you tried anything else? I say try just about everything you can think of and see if ANYTHING works.

Google Hangouts
GotoMeeting
Steam Voice Chat
In-game voice chat (any/multiple games)

Have you recently installed any third party software since the problem began? Things like noise gates perhaps? If possible I'd do a PC rollback to before this problem began (~1 month). It seems most likely that there's some kind of driver conflict.

I've never heard anything like the problem you're having though, so I am just guessing wildly. Could be totally wrong.

Hello there, thanks for participating in this,
The problem happened 2 weeks ago on my windows 7, a few days ago i installed windows 10 hoping it'll be fixed, but the problem was still there. So i don't think it's a software, unless discord is the issue?

I tried it with Skype, before it doesn't work and i only hear robotic sounds, but when i tried now it did work. I have no idea why and how.
Also i found something really interesting just now,, if anyone joined me on discord and i was the only one there, i won't be able to hear them, just robotic sound and i'll hear my own voice when i talk, but once i disconnect and rejoin... the problem goes away.
The same thing if i was talking to someone on discord and i decided to join another channel, the same will happen, i need to disconnect again and rejoin them to fix it.

I tried TS3, it gave me the same issue 2 weeks ago, i don't have it now. as for Steam voice chat none of my friends are online atm so i can't say for sure. We only use Discord or Skype to chat, never once we used Steam.

So i'm starting to believe what you just said about my PC not telling the difference anymore.

What does your CPU usage look like when the audio is robotic?
It sounds like you are saying that you have clear audio locally, but robotic audio over the net, do you have enough bandwidth?
You mentioned you did a fresh install, are you sure you have installed all your drivers correctly?
Have you tried using msconfig or sysinternals Autoruns.exe to cull most of the start up stuff so you can limit programs that might be interfering?
Have you tried doing another fresh install on another drive as a test?
Have you tried a usb sound card to eliminate issues with onboard sound?

No idea but my CPU is Intel Core i7 3930K.
My internet speed is 200mb down, 76mb up
Yes, i did. The problem keeps coming back for some reason.
No i did not. My windows is newly bought, but i'm sure it's not the problem since it happened on windows 7 as well.
No, i did not. I can't use my Yeti mic on a USB card, but i tried everything i own on another machine like the PS4, and they all worked.

But you can use your ModMic with a USB stick. They're about 7 dollars on Amazon (We recommend using one regardless).

Not sure it will solve your problem, but I think the above suggestion of eliminating non-essential programs is an interesting idea. Boot into safe mode with networking, turn on Skype or Discord, see if it still has the issue.

Ok i'll give it a shot and get back to you.

*cough*

I'm sorry for bringing this up after a long time, just wanted to tell everyone that i solved the problem after nearly losing my sanity, this is just for those who'll get the same problem as i did.
The problem was an electricity interference, caused a lot of issues to me and started to guess it was the issue when i kept hearing my USB keeps replugging by itself, losing audio in-game, not being able to VOIP most of the time... etc!
So i fixed the issue by simply buying Ferrite ring core, plugged it on my cables especially my PSU cable. And that solved the problem pretty much.

Hope that it would help everyone, good luck!

That's amazing @HXHXH!

I'm going to have our tech team check these out and see if there are other situations where they will help customers who are having problems. Thanks so much for discovering a solution to your problem and coming back to post it. Hopefully it will help a great many souls in the future.
