Got a Qisan magicforce 68 on the way. I was wondering if a PS2 adapter would work for this keyboard. Back in the day when I bought my Filco majesitc touch 2, it was recommended to use a ps2 adapter for "better performance".
Would a PS2 adapter be better then USB for this aswell? Or there is no difference going USB?

I have a MF68, no issues at all using the stock cable and also no issues at all using an adapater w/ custom cable (micro usb) at home. Never used a PS2 adapter but theres really no reason to, the keyboard is plug and play. You may just have to set your polling rate initially which you can do on the keyboard directly using FN + W/E/R
Without looking in the manual and just by glancing down at my keyboard, it gives me 3 options. 20C/S, 40C/S, 80C/S. I am pretty clueless as to what exactly this interprets to but i know when I first used it while playing Overwatch. When i held down TAB to view the scoreboard, it would rapidly blink the scoreboard as if i was rapidly pressing it compared to me holding it down. I changed just using the hotkey, I believe I raised it to the 60C/S and it works just fine. Thats pretty much the only thing I had to figure out when using this keyboard.
How is this keyboard working for you? I choosed the Gateron red switch along with this keyboard. Been using mx brown , which was awsome for starcraft II , but I think linear switches might be better for FPS. Not sure what to expect since I have no oppertunity to try them out, Hench also I choosed this board since it was relative cheap to try it out.

I used a Razer with vintage MX Blue switches for like 4 years and never thought anything of it until just recently. I have this new dislike for Clicky keys. It has nothing to do with the feel, but everything to do with the sound. I too have the MF68 and opted for the Gateron Reds. I decided on this after I already purchased a switch tester with mostly all the MX, Gateron, and Khail Switches. The Gateron reds are noticeably smoother than the other Reds, but they are also slightly lighter. Gat Reds are 45g, which is pretty much the lightest I will go. It does take some time to get used to after using Blue switches exclusively for so long, but I do not regret the choice and absolutely love the red switches for gaming. Way better for gaming, but not so much for typing. For me, the keys may be a tad light for typing, so errors are more common but I get absolutely no hand/finger fatigue while gaming for long hours. For what I planned this keyboard to be (mainly gaming keyboard, not annoying, and efficient) its working absolutely perfect. The stock keycaps are not bad, but the font on them is absolutely ghastly, but they feel okay. Overall build is pretty solid, and I really like the white backlit LEDs. Its just enough for what I needed as I didnt want something extremely gaudy like RGB.
In the end, for someone looking for a cheap-ish mech keyboard thats not like a normal keyboard... i will always recommend the MF68. I currently am planning on building my "end-game" Topre keyboard, Most likely an HHKB. Something about Topre switches and that "thock" sound that has me absolutely hooked.
Cheers dude. Thanks for sharing your experience. Looks promising I might made the right decision. I plan to keep my brown switch filco just for typing, It is a 10 Keyless, so I can have both keyboards side by side depending what I plan to do I could switch between them.
Which Topre key swich are you looking for, how do they compare with the Gateron reds?

I want to get a HHKB Professional 2. I have never owned a Topre keyboard but got to test one and really enjoyed it even though I was not used to it, but its the sound that does it for me. The satisfying and signature "thock" sound is what im going after. Most likely will be the HHKB with dental bands on the sliders, and ill probably put in iron pads on all the mods.
Yeah, I never really knew that mechanical keyboards went into such depth but its an exciting discovery. My day job is in IT, and I spend a lot of my time in my own office on my computer so an investment in a good keyboard is worth it to me. Topre is definitely aimed towards that "professional" group, but they have great reputation. The HHKB comes 45g. RealForce makes some boards in a 55g version and have seen a mod for a swap into a HHKB to achieve 55g which is what I think I might end up going for. But that will be a process, looking forward to it though.
I feel like the speed that the ps2 interface offers is very rarely actually noticeable. There are much larger sources of lag in the input chain. That being said there's no harm in trying it out if you already have the required parts.
I think the only thing that might be strangely affected is the back lighting, although even then I'm not sure why. Usually the keyboards that have the most issues with ps2 adapters are ones with funky micro controllers that allow for remapping and such but don't support the particular characteristic of ps2 (like I would never plug my anne pro in via ps2). Nonetheless, the worst thing that could happen in this situation (as far as I'm aware) is that it just won't work. I don't see how there would be risk of damage to the board itself.
Thanks for your advice. I guess I just need to try it out. I am just wondering since this board got Pollinrate switches, does this only work with USB or also with PS2?

Good question, and I am not really sure. I know that USB works off of polling and PS/2 does not, but In this specific case of the MF68 having onboard polling hotkeys then I really don't know if it will allow the change or not through PS/2. Everything that I read shows that the MF68 supports PS/2 so I am going to assume it works.
Yeah ps2 doesn't poll like usb (it doesn't need to). The need to poll is the cost of having such an adaptable port such as USB. The switches shouldn't work but you shouldn't notice anyway.
How about 3rd party keycaps for this keyboard with gateron red switches, are the ones that came with it good? or better to replace them with others and which type?
Also the keycaps from my 5 years old filco majestic touch 2 are kinda worned down not sure what kind keycaps those are. Looking for new keycaps that are not 2 expensive but more durable. The switches on those are MX-brown, I use that keyboard for normal desktop use, just typing.
Availblity is very bad in Europe for the keycaps though.
And also for the filco, I never tried O rings on them, what size of O ring fit the MX-brown switch? and also soft or hard?

The best keycard are doubleshot PBT. They are the most durable and thickest normally. They don't wear nearly as bad as the ABS keys but can be quiet pricey. The stock MF68 caps are honestly not that bad but the font is not the greatest. All the cherry mx switches share the same stem so any keycap for MX Cherrys will work but cheap keycard are very thin and cheap so if you plan on getting a key's set. I would save more and get a decent set that will last, they are worth it
Just received my Qisan Magicforce 68 Gateron red switches. I hsve not connected it yet. But i did some typing on the switches to see how they feel and they feel fantastic. Fast and smooth, cant wait to test them in games later.

Hope you enjoy! I put orings on most of the keys on mine, I think I just left the arrow keys off. I barely notice the shorter throw but I definitely notice the much softer bottom out. You also get a much soft/deeper tone from the keys on uplift rather than that hard, plastic clack I get from my arrow keys. I much prefer the orings. Softer, and as small as possible. Bigger orings will give you too much of a mushy feelings. I have these ones (Keyboard Orings) specifically on my keyboard, enjoying them so far. The only other type of oring I tested were bigger .4mm orings and did not like them as much as these ones.
Thanks buddy I am sure I will. I am curious to try those O rings 0.15cm seems very thin. Unfortunately they dont sell those on amazon.co.uk/.de in Europe

When I was buying o-rings I was looking for just a softer bottom out and not much of a shortened keypress. These are very thin, but they are softer than any of the black o-rings I have ever used and gave me exactly what I was looking for. If you are looking for that shorter throw, .2mm or even .4mm o-rings will do. Sometimes local hardware stores will have small o-rings available too.
