Hey everybody I currently have Gigabyte GTX 750 ti OC windforce 2X I am planning to do a GPU upgrade I've Gigabyte GTX 1060 (6gb) factory overclocked windforce 2x version in mind so my question is how much faster/powerful is this card than my current GPU? & how much FPS would it give me in games at 1080p with high settings? I usually play games like Call of duty series , Battlefield series , MAFIA III , GTA V , Left 4 dead 2 etc
Can this card do 1440p as well? with 60fps ? and what about 1080p with 120fps? cause I am planning on upgrading to a 1440p monitor with 120hz & Display port
& Please do not give me any suggestions like go with Amd instead , I've been always an Intel & Nvidia user & I plan to keep it that way
I've the following 3 other questions will my CPU be powerful enough to keep up with it like no bottlenecks? & is my PSU powerful enough to power it? how many PCI-E connectors does this GPU require ??
I've the following specs
4th gen Corei5 4440 3.10ghz
Windows 10 x64 pro
(2x8) 16gb ddr3 1600mhz Corsair vengeance ram
1tb Seagate SATA III 7200pm HDD
240gb Corsair LE SATA III SSD
Creative 7.1 sound blaster sound card
Gigabyte H81 MOBO
Seasonic 80+ bronze SS-500ET PSU
Corsair carbide 200R casing with three Corsair AF 120mm fans & one Xigamatech 140mm fan
I did some research on the net although I should be fine with the GPU with my current setup but my CPU it will bottleneck the GPU not too much though , what you suggest upgrading to 6th gen? or wait for 7th generation? cause I don't want to upgrade from 4th gen to 4th gen
Your CPU, PSU should be fine with it. As far as I know it's only a single 6-pin PCI-E connector required for almost all 1060 cards. Some ppl have had decent results at 1440p with the card, might have to choose between med or hi settings based on the game but at 1440p it should still look pretty good. With your H81 mobo you're good with your current processor. You could upgrade to an i7 down the road if you wanted to but as far as OC and such I'm not sure how the power phase delivery would be on your board for stability of that kind of thing. But a fairly current i5 and a good GPU will let you game well for a couple more years imo. I would wait to do a total system redo (cpu/mobo/ram) for at least another gen if not maybe 2
Average 91 FPS/ MAX 143 FPS / MIN 33FPS (valley benchmark). All GPU OC done with MSI afterburn. Core Voltage still OEM @ 0%, Power limit set @ 116%, Temp. Limit set @ 92°C, Core Clock +64Mhz, Memory Clock +750MHz, Fans set @ 10% slightly higher than the factory auto curve. The graphics card after burn in and extensive testing has not exceeded the mid 60°C mark.

I thought only Intel K series processors could be overclocked & H81 is a low end mobo I was aiming for B85 but it wasn't in stock that time so I bought H81 instead ( BTW I don't know how to overclock a CPU or a GPU ), Do you think I can do 120fps on 1080p with this card? yeah I'll wait for 7th gen cause its about to come out & it will cost pretty much the same as 6th gen do so I'll upgrade to a 7th gen Corei7 when its out btw how much faster is DDR4 ram compared to DDR3? my friend told me DDR4 ram would give 6 more fps in games
& btw GTX 1060 needs one 8pin/6+2pin pci-e connector not a 6pin

Yeah the K series are overclockable, wasn't really thinking a 4770/4790k, but just more the locked models of i7's 4770/4790 since it would give you an additional 4 threads if games start to take more and more advantage of that on your current platform. DDR4 is faster than DDR3 but the timings are a little looser (slower) than DDR3 but that will probably change as the modules mature I would think/hope. Either way the newer platforms are going to DDR4 and the price has pretty much come down to DDR3 range so it really doesn't cost much more nowadays so that would probably be the best upgrade route down the road. I don't think you'll get 120 fps on 1080p ultra settings with the newest gams, maybe if you used a combo of high/med settings to achieve that targeted fps. You won't be disappointed in the upgrade from 750 ti to 1060 in any form.
Ya you don't need that great of a cpu to run this card I am having 0 issues with a cheap used 3570s on fleabay for $100 bucks. Far cry 3 around 100 fps or so, Tomb Raider 80-120fps, etc. I'm content with 1080p so I see this card lasting about 4 years or so.

Yeah I could get 60fps on 1080p with my GTX 750ti with medium-high settings depending on the game some I could play with high , So I think I could get away easily with a GTX 1060 6gb cause its 220% faster than 750ti & even in some cases it out performs the GTX 980 plus the extra v-ram will help so with medium-high settings I can probably do 1440p with 60fps too
& btw its a PCI-E3.0 card where as my mobo has a PCI-E2.0 slot although I am aware they're backwards compatible same as SATA II & SATA III but there will be a 3% performance loss right?
Only if you want to put settings to the max with AA etc... moving from the ultra to high preset in most games provide sustential improvements and bring the frame rates to a good leve with a 1060l. Off course if money is not an issue spend 200 more and get that 1070
