Advise Me A Cheap Gaming Mechanical Keyboard Kindly

Finally the day has come for me. My Logi G15 is finally getting old, after six and a half years of abuse, W key would take 2 seconds to come back when firmly pressed!

So need to buy one. Please suggest me one, which is cheap, comes with a great build quality in that price segment and longer period of after sales. I am in India, and Logitech gives around 3 year warranty here, but hilariously other than the compact G310 all others are as expensive as a jet plane. And companies like Corsair, Cooler Master provides 2 year warranty.

Main usage is obviously gaming. Then lots of typing too. As silent as possible, I like touch typing. Backlight is a must needless to say. And full one, with numeric section. If it comes with a wrist pad it will be great too.

Thanks in advance.

If you want silent, look for mx brown keys.
Have a look for keyboards like corsair k95, where the keys all sit above a flat surface, with nothing housing them, makes it super easy to clean by just blowing under them.

Thanks man, but that keyboard costs a ridiculous amount over here! Don't know what happened with the prices of them all. I could find K70 LUX, Cherry Red ones at a decent enough price, do you think Red will be suitable for me? I mean are the Browns much silent than the Reds?

I use a used Filco Majestouch TKL from eBay, cost about $65/ shipped USD. Brown keys, 87 total.

I like brown switches the best personally. It feels smooth and less fatiguing then the black or red. I use the board for FPS.

I like the TKL size, if you don't use a num pad you should look into it. You can get the mouse and keyboard really close together this way.

If you like TKL and do use a numpad you can buy a ten key pad that is separate, that is what I did.

Cherry MX Speed/Silver

I don't know anything about them.

I honestly hate all MX Cherry switches. I think Gateron makes a far better switch to my personal likings.

Their REDs are noticeably smoother and less scratchy/sandy feelings

Their BROWNs have a very crisp tactile feel compared to that mushy tactile feel I get from Cherrys.

And their BLUEs follow suit, better tactile feel and much more consistent "clicky" sound.

But in the end, switch feel will always come down to personal preference, and I would highly recommend a switch tester to see what you like, plus its always good to keep around just incase you lose love for your current switch. I used vintage MX Blues for almost 4 years, switched to Gateron Reds and now I absolutely hate anything that is clicky and just feels extremely cheap to me. I am absolutely loving the linear smoothness of the Reds but will soon be jumping ship to a Topre board.

The Cherry MX Speed is similar to a linear MX RED, but it has a much shorter actuation point (1.2mm compared to MX Reds 2.0mm)

obviously it comes down to preference, but for what it's worth, i've owned a 45g (silenced) hhkb for a good while now and i think it's great for both typing and for gaming.
i've also used variable topre (realforce) and 55g topre (also realforce), but i feel like 55g topre is not great for gaming, and can be slightly fatiguing after long typing sessions. variable is definitely not for me..

you will probably want to look up some clips of the sound, or/and some comparison-reviews regarding the feel. for example non-silenced sounds totally different from silenced, and the realforce keyboards feel totally different from the hhkb.

i love the realforce 55g and the hhkb, but i do think they are rather overpriced.
you could also look up Plum keyboards, they are topre-clone keyboards and apparently feel good also. (they have cherry mx compatible stems afaik so you can find a lot more keycaps for them, if you'd like.)

Yeah have been doing a lot of research before deciding on the Topre that I want. I'm going with the 45g HHKB, I like the compact layout and sound much better compared to a RealForce. I have seen Plums and Royal Kludges but decided not to choose them because of rather spend another 100 for something I really want. Price is up there but considering it will be my work and home and it'll get 10+ hours use per day so it's worth it to me.

The difference between Red and Brown is very little. Brown keys have a slight bump as you press down on them while the Red does not. That's really the only difference. Some people like the little bump feel which lets them know that the key has been pressed far enough to register, others do not. Personally I'm not a fan of the Brown switches at all, I much prefer the Red.

PS: Could you guys tell me exactly what Cherry is the following keyboard, http://www.corsair.com/en-in/k70-rapidfire-mechanical-gaming-keyboard-cherry-mx-speed-na ?[/quote]

The only difference between these keys and the Red is that these keys actuate slightly sooner. You don't have to press them quite as far down before the keyboard registers the keystroke.
