Nickel vs copper vs SIlver Kill Coil

So i have been reading up and looking at EKWB for water blocks, and noticed the issues (as stated by EKWB) that a silver killcoil and nickel don't jive well. Yet I see many people not having an issue using a killcoil with nickel.

My question is two-fold:

1.) Does using a killcoil interfere with current EKWB nickel blocks?

2.) I havent seen any discussions on this, but as a backup, if i went with solid copper for my WB, that would not interfere with silver, correct? It's safe to use them together?

Also, assuming using distilled water only, how often should you replace the liquid inside the loop? would waiting two years before flushing the system damage it?

I would use pt nuke, but there have been reports of it clouding petg tubing, and id rather not deal with that.

I havent bought the parts yet for my new PC, and this will be my first CWC build, so any advice is greatly appreciated.

People really only have problems when the two metals are in direct contact with each other. Keep the kill coil away from your waterblocks and fittings and you should be good.

Why not just run a bottle of coolant like Mayhems X1 instead of a kill coil and enjoy the added corrosion protection it adds?

Best practice is to flush your loop at least once a year.

1. I would avoid putting any kind of silver in a loop with any kind of nickel, its not worth the risk for its limited protection. I've seen/heard of loops still contaminating with algae despite killcoil protection.

2. its safe with an all copper loop, but I'd still only use it as a last resort.

Like EX1 said, try some clear Mayhem's X1 or most any other clear coolant and rest easy. They aren't too expensive most places

No problem. They sell the coolant in concentrate form and pre-mixed as well. You mix the concentrate with distilled water and you are good to go. Just make sure to get the coolant to water ratios correct. If you don't, it can greatly reduce the effectiveness of the biocides and corrosion inhibitors.

They offer many different colors too if you want something other than clear. Just be sure your radiators are properly flushed and your loop's pH level is between 6.5-8. Once you get outside that range, the dyes in the coolants can start to change color and can have an adverse effect on your metals.
