Korean Microboard M340CLZ 34" 3440x1440 100Hz FreeSync Curved Monitor Discussion Thread - Page 81

You won't have to pay the import tax twice (even if you have to send it back for a repair and reimport) for the same product, that would be absurd.

Over the years i have imported a lot of stuff from all over the world.

You just have to include a invoice and other information (when you pay the import tax the first time you get a receipt too) so that your customs service know that you already payed the tax, its really no big deal.

Whatever inherent advantage IPS has over VA is trounced by the deep contrast and 100hz refresh. This is a gaming monitor and boy does it get almost everything right.

There are negatives as such: The viewing angle can shift the gamma pretty noticeably looking top to bottom so make sure to position the screen at the right height. That brings us to the next negative; only tilt available. If you do not own a vesa adapter it might be tricky getting set up correctly. I do not own one however the tilt works just fine for me. There is also a little blur but you really have to be looking for it and it does not detract from gameplay at all for me.

The color was washed out pretty bad initially so I bought a Colormunki to calibrate using DisplayCal. It was after doing this that the contrast and colors really wowed me, the IPS can not touch this black level. No backlight bleed or dead pixels either.

Here is my icc profile http://www.filedropper.com/m340clz-dp12016-12-2717-4022f-sxyzlutmtx

Full range RGB

Settings after calibration:

brightness/contrast

brightness - 10
contrast - 70
dcr - off

color setting

Gamma - 2.2
Picture mode - standard
Color Temp - user
Red=49 Green=51 Blue=49
low blue - 0

Hue/Saturation

Hue - 50
Saturation - 50

Picture Quality

bypass - Off
sharpness - 50
Response time - low
Noise reduction - off
Super resolution - off
Dynamic Luminosity - off
Freesync - on

Please forgive the stupid question.

Do I need to just apply the ICC profile and that will automatically set all the settings you listed, or do I need to apply the ICC profile AND change the settings on the monitor to what you set?

I'm not trying to discourage anyone from buying this monitor, but the seller is... well... let's just say he obviously doesn't check the screens he sells and is okay with claiming otherwise:

https://barnacules.wordpress.com/2015/11/25/ny-frustrating-quest-to-4k/

you can also see how he refers to his pixel policy, so he most likely won't exchange a monitor with 1-3 dead pixels.

This means that if you fail the lottery, you're stuck with bad pixels for good. For (even the) 650$ + VAT (if you're from Europe, that is) + paypal conversion fee, which can easily add up to about 900 dollars.

At this point, I'd pay the extra 200 dollars to get the CF791 from a solid retailer in EU.

I'm still jealous as **** that Americans don't have to pay that #@#%#@ VAT.

If pretty claire say so smile.gif

Yeah but honestly, I don't want him to open the box and check it. I'd rather he take a sealed 'new' package from Microboard and re-sell it to me without ever putting his hands on it. If I send it back for RMA due to reasons then try and fix it but otherwise, I'd rather not worry about whether or not he's sending me someone else's RMA. If its sealed, I know its brand new.

Well true but at the same time there is absolutely nothing to do if you fail the lottery :V you have to live with it.

Man do you ever stop whining about VAT or the risk involved in buying one of these in Europe. If you aren't interested then do as you've repeated 30x and buy the Samsung.

Not sure what you're trying to accomplish here dissuading people from buying the Microboard.

This isn't a Microboard mutual adoration society. If you're looking for one - wrong address. Make your own private forum and ban everyone who dares to say anything about the risks related to buying something from the other end of the world.

Listen i also live in Europe. Denmark. Heavy VAT. I paid 300usd in vat for my m340clz.. But you know, im still extremely happy about it. Its a great monitor. Only flaw is freesync backlight flicker. But it might be driver or my own system.. Im using the Asus strix rx480 8gb. I had no dead pixels and no other problems.. My whole pc experience has been so much improved. Coming from a 24 tn.
