I swear i haven't forgot about you guys! I really haven't made much progress due to work scheduling and the holiday chaos but i have been trying to decide what to do with the gimped M.2 Port on my Asus X99-M WS Board, since it is PCIe2.0x2 bandwidth, which comes out to about 10Gbps, its pretty pointless to stick a high end SSD in it. However, i recently acquired a new Ubiquiti 10Gb network switch and decided those 2 PCIe lanes *MIGHT* just work to feed a single 10GBe NIC! In theory, a Chipset connected PCIe lane is a Chipset connected PCIe lane, no matter the device(s) connected to it right? now how do i get those lanes out of an M.2 Slot.....

I've come up with the following: 1) M.2 to U.2 Adapter, an Asus Hyper-Kit one to be exact.    2)standard U.2 Drive cable   3)and this little guy picture below. U.2 (SFF-8639) to PCI-e GEN 3 X 4 Slot adapter from MicroSataCables.com.
Not sure if this is going to work untill i try it, But it should let me mount a 10Gbe NIC in the PSU chamber and leave my Mobo PCIe slots open for 2x Titan GPU's and at least one PCIe SSD, although i may try to split the remaining 8 lanes out to dual drives. i will be using every single PCIe lane this setup offers if so!

For splitting the last 8 CPU connected PCIe lanes out to multiple drives, im looking at something like this. It has an onboard PCIe PEX chip, so it splits 8 lanes to quad 4 lane connectors.

If i need to convert back to PCIe slots, i can use the above adapter.

FINALLY getting time to start test fitting parts and getting some final measurements! starting to get excited again!

*update* - scored a 2TB Intel DC P3600 NVMe SSD (AIC) which will be the only drive in this build. going to see about having a custom waterblock made for it.

OK guys, its been WAY too long since ive been able to work on this project. a little unexpected career change and all manner of fun things. In the mean time, i've been able to round up almost everything else left for the build!

More not pictured, but drank the #AquaComputer koolaide pretty heavy this time. dual D5 aquabus enabled pumps, Full Aquero 6 (LT) system, blocks and active backplates, a terminal for multi-GPU, flow meter, lots of cables and things, KryoM.2 SSD heatsink kit but i'm probably going to order the new KryoM.2 Evo that they announced 2 days AFTER my order arrives... *facepalm*.

i also ordered a kick ass new waterblock for the CPU!

The Cuplex Kryos NEXT with Vision & Vario, in a slick PVD coating.

I'm really excited after looking at the early reviews of this block with it edging out the EKWB Supremacy by several degrees. The Vario Technology lets your vary the geometry of the coldplate (the part that contacts the CPU heatspreader) while its running so you can dial it in for maximum cooling.

I also finalized the Storage of this build by snagging a great deal on a monster Drive.

2TB is plenty of space and includes future proofing. This is primarily a work station build that can game on the weekends, so the 960 PRO single handedly provides the speed and endurance needed.

And for this post, but certainly not least. White Light Laser has received my 2nd motherboard and will be doing a custom board cover. I really cant wait to see that part finished!

Digging that M.2 and there is me wanting a 250gb . biggrin.gif

Decided to do a little powder coating work on my AquaComputer KryoGraphics waterblocks. I'ts hard to capture the effect this Illusion Orange paint has in a pitcure, but its certainly one of my favorites from Prismatic Powders.
