SMA8 build Project Stealth

Thread Starter
I have now joined the cult and is seriously considering of going the petg/acrylic tubing route I am not sure so I will be asking for opinioins and thoughts on it and several others. I am switching out from My recently purchased Evolv atx, just not happy at all with its performance for my components. I have chosen the SMA8 for its size and expandability over the SM8 which I do love as well. I got it quick ship in gun metal gray and I think I'm going to go for a small but two(black/gun metal) toned kind of look with the case. Black flex bay(120.3) and black reservoir mount.
I think as far as fluid color go I may go for black/silver/white since my memory tops are silver, the case color is gun metal with black accented res mount. I want to give a nice blend.

My components
Asus Rampage 5 Edition 10(thinking about going with the EK RGB monoblock)
Intel 5930k
Corsair Dominator Platinum 16gb 2800MHZ
Samsung 840 Evo 250GB x 2
Samsung 850 Pro 512GB
WD Black drive 1.5 TB x 2
Radeon 290X x 2
Seasonic 1200w Platinum PSU

I have the following watercooling parts at my disposal:

Blocks
EK supremacy Evo acrylic copper version(will be the one I'm using)
Swiftech Apogee XL
2 EK full cover block rev 2 for the 290Xs

Pumps
Swiftech MCP50X Pump
EK-XRES 100 DDC 3.2 PWM Elite (incl Pump)

Reservoirs
EK Res X3 150 +250
Bitspower Water Tank Z-Multi 200 V2 - Clear Body & POM Version

Rads
XSPC EX360 Copper Triple-Fan Radiator
Alphacool ut45 480mm
Alphacool ut60 360mm white edition
Black Ice Nemesis 360GTX® Ultra Stealth Dual-Core Xtreme Profile Radiator
Black Ice Nemesis 360GTX Dual-Core Xtreme Profile Radiator (white)
Black Ice Nemesis GTS 360 xflow
EK Coolstream PE 360mm
EK Coolstream PE 240mm

Questions
If you guys think I should change something out let me know. I also want to reuse either/both res tube if possible but if I need to change one then that is fine. I am not rushing this build whatsoever as I can already see it will take some time for me to get it done as there will be new things that I'll be trying.
What kind of tubing should I be using acrylic/petg what?
For cutting, what tube cutting kit should I get?tube size? heat gun?
What fittings should I be using?
Should I change my pump?
I was planning on putting my UT45 480 on the side and have either of the following combinations:1 use 1 Nemesis GTX 360 rad in the top or 2) go with my 360 in both front and top(GTX 360s). What do you all think?

Here's my current setup

That's an amazing motherboard CaseLabs brother, just be certain to install the latest Bios 1003, some of the earlier bios versions caused a great deal of issues making some early buyers RMA perfectly good boards.

The EK R5E10 RGB monoblock, another amazing choice in parts selection. biggrin.gif

Good Luck with your transfer build. smile.gif

Thanks, I initially had problems myself but I like to exhaust my options before I give up and I'm glad I did. I love it. Now to pick up where I left off.

Just picked up some stuff from PPC.

Another EK X-RES DDC pump, I was going to get 2 D5 Varios but decided against it and save some mulah.
PETG tubing
Primo chill fittings
EK XRES
Tube cutting kit and some other tidbits that I can't remember off the top of my head.

Yep, I know that feeling, with water cooling there are so many small parts to buy, and gather together and make certain they are all compatible, and then right in the middle of the planning phase you change your mind. tongue.gif

I went with an XRES REVO with the short tube for one of my CaseLabs builds, my second XRES, they work so darn well, good choice.

Yet you have so much space in your SMA8 you could also go pump top and separate reservoir if you wanted to.

I used an XRES in one rig and an XTOP with separate res in another, just to mix things up a bit, don't want to have all the same parts, its nice to try new things with every new water loop. smile.gif

Thanks for the pic. I have the squared design pump.
https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-xres-140-ddc-3-2-pwm-incl-pump.

I figured since i already had one that purchasing another would be the best cost saving practiceif there's ever such a thing in watercooling. I technically can finish the build thus week if i set out to but I'm not sure how i want my layout. One thing i do know is i don't want my tubing route to either loop overlapping the other. Just so that if i need to change cpu/gpu or fittings, i only need to touch the affected loop.
Just got home and realized my radiator bracket and front 360 grill/fan mount has arrived. I'll update with pics soon

Cost-saving and watercooling in the same sentence. biggrin.gif

From my recent experience, there's no such thing. At least not with custom water.

I've never used the DDC pumps, only D5s for two years now, I'm sure they have their advantages (greater head pressure) but when I found out the DDCs were air-cooled it simply didn't make any sense to me. If I was going to watercool my components, I thought why not watercool the water pump also. I mean the supply of cold generated coolant is right there easily available, so why not take advantage of it?

Well, that's what I thought to myself anyway. smile.gif

I love your motherboard dude, just picked up the EK R5E10 RGB monoblock for a Christmas present for a friend of mine. I have the EK R5E10 nickel plexi monoblock and think I'm going to stick with it, I like the white Mayhems coolant and the clear view inside the block itself.

Although the RGB monoblock is far more attractive. sadsmiley.gif

Thanks, i was trying to fool myself in the cost savings part lol. I only got the ddc because i already had 1, i might as well see how it handles. I am sorta stuck but not really if that makes sense at all. I don't know whether to put the 420 rad in the bottom to cool the gpus or leave it on the cpu. I am not purchasing another rad.

The board is sexy though I'm glad i went and got rid of my deluxe.

springs133,

Come on over and join us in this CaseLabs thread,

Talk with MR-e, he is also building in an SMA8 and can help with your radiator clearance and compatibility questions. Can also help with your pump choices, although I have a feeling he might suggest D5s also.

Im already in there i believe. I also have the pumps already too late to turn back as i already had 1 before and didn't want to go purchase 2 more pumps. I went ahead and purchased the one ddc. Oh well it better work (insert evil laugher)
