I had got tired of the crap going around and rumors of the Windows 10 telemetry service, store service that automatically downloads sponsored apps and cortana crap. I used NTlite pro to chop down a windows 10 and remove and disable the garbage.

Quick peak of changes

Removed.
Cortana
Windows defender
Office telemetry
Skype
windows Zip
Telemetry
Windows store sponsored app services
Windows search

Disabled
Superfetch
Xbox app
Xbox services
Windows update
Windows update driver search

Enabled
View hidden files and folders
Misc desktop icons my computer, control panel ect.

Removed change
Added (Location C:\Drivers ect)
AMD 16.9.2 Full installer
Nvidia 375.95 Installer
7Zip installer

Other than what was listed above nothing else was added.Only items disabled or removed completely.
I would recommend installing on a VM or backup drive to test it out. If you find any issues Pm me directly
Request changes below please

I had checked with Enterprise prior to posting.
Sorry If my thread is not as fancy as alot of peoples

A lot of these tweaks are already present in Enterprise LTSB but for this is wonderful for those who don't have access to Enterprise LTSB.

Hey, I think you should upload those Windows 7 similar to one above as well. Set it up similar as you done with 10 for those who would like quick easy access for nice ISO like I do.

Hello, i am wondering if this custom clean W10 ISO would be stable enough?

Why did you remove Windows defender?
I dont have any antivirus program, so it might be helpful for average user like me, to use WD instead of any antivirus crapware, isn't it?
I have network print (ethernet), so if you disabled drivers windows update, does it mean it wont find print drivers?

Thanks

WD has a bad habit of keeping itself running in the presence of other AV suits, and turning itself back on after being disabled. Removing it is more fail-proof in this case.

With that said, as long as you're on Windows update MS can load whatever they want on your system. It's the Windows equivalent of "erm, we have root".

Just curious what's the final ISO size / fresh install size for a Single 64 bit version?

I usually use Winreducer and I've got the iSO down to 1.99GB ISO / 5.7GB fresh install.

Could of got it down more but I had to keep the Windows Store / Xbox App cause' of Killer Instinct and I stream my games to PC.

The only things I couldn't remove without the install not working was IE / Edge. Also I kept Cortana as without it the search function does not work (it's disabled though).

Disabling the windows update driver service disables windows from going "online" to fetch a driver automatically. Windows defender has one of the worst detection rating, I honestly prefer avast it has always had one of the top detection rates.

Looks good, most of the tweaks and removals made are ones I would have also, though remote registry I would have left enabled as deployment of applications via a server or domain controller require client PC's to have remote registry to be enabled otherwise remote installs will generally fail :(

Can this be used as a clean install on a laptop (using the laptop's key of course) or is that not possible? I've been hearing of some issues where even a BIOS flash can make a Windows 8/10 install think it's not valid for a laptop it came out of box with.

For home installations It's probably safer to have this turned off. The less of a profile open to outside connections, the better.

Found this in the NtLite.log file from the ISO

Host: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit - Client 10.0.14393.0 (en-US) - en-US

I was just about to download this then saw that remote desktop has been removed. I actually use it often so these iso's are sadly not useful to me.

Dunno if I done something wrong, I doubt it but i tried installing the Home version to the new drive and it never installed past the first reboot. I left it on all night just to be sure it wasn't just real slow loading up.

As it turned out I tried again in the morning with same results. I then used my full win 10 and got the job done. I don't know if there is something that Win is doing in the install such as trying to run home and not seeing all the install components or what.

Any ideas? I would rather go light.

The description says you disabled Windows update, can it be turned back on once installed?
