Video Card Upgrade NEED HELP! - Page 2

I would not buy into a 780 Ti at this point, especially not at that price. For $20 more you can get an 8GB RX 480 (and for $20 less you can get a 4GB one) that is faster in DX11 and kills it in DX12, while using significantly less power. And that's not a very compelling price on a 980 either, considering a 6GB GTX 1060 is in the same ballpark and you can find then for less than $250 new.

If you want to save some money, you could even pick up an RX 470 for $170ish and it'll run 1080p just fine.

Edit: And if you are interested in Doom:

The 780ti have around 85% of the performance of 980 which are pretty close to the performance of
the 1060 and RX 480 and i think it would be enough for the games you play but in my opinion on the
budget you have the RX 480 and the 1060 would be better choices on the long run if you want to
keep the card you are buying for some years. Also i will leave 2 links of 780 TI running GTA V
and Doom for try help more on your decision:

I agree with what you say here and i think a better deal would be only if he found a used 980Ti close to $300.

yeah again, i dont care if its new or used, as long as its within my budget and is worth the cash i spend on it. I work and i do not ask for much during the year from the Wife or my daughter, but if i can indulge myself in a piece of computer hardware for my DORKTime Alone, well dang it, im doing it. lol

Thank you guys for the help again, keep any more ideas coming, the more the better, because like i said, Im out of the loop for the newer stuff. thumb.gif

Amazon had the EVGA 980Ti ACX 2.0+ for $299 yesterday. Sadly they are back to full price again today. OP missed a hell of a deal.

Look, get an rx 470 and call it a day.

An OCed one is right around gtx 970/780 ti performance and supports the latest technology now.

I would not get any kepler cards, they aged poorly and are not suited for dx12 at all.

I'm in the same boat, I'd have bought one yesterday myself if I'd had the cash to replace my daughters 970. Just like the killer deals on refurb Crucial SSD's I never have the cash when I see the deals. mad.gif
