One thing worth mentioning, when VC runs the pre test, it passes, I get the message to begin encryption, and then my system would crash and restart. I ended up changing some settings in CSM and Secure Boot, and I may have even totally gone back to optimized defaults, but it was hard to even get the drive to actually encrypt, although it eventually did. Just wasn't expecting a 85% performance reduction.

I dunno. It's been frustrating with so many variables.

Sorry, I don't have any more ideas for you then. :/

Except that that crashing it totally not normal, and everything worked perfect for me when I set mine up.....

Fresh install, nothing but Samsung drivers, motherboard drivers, Magician, and Veracrypt with AES and SHA 512 gives me....

389 MB/s read, 409 MB/s write. Read write IOPS are 9597 and 26,222.

What a mess.

Your Magician screen shows it as an Evo - did you verify it was a Pro?

What did you expect from a software encryption?

It destroys performance compared to hardware based

But it shouldn't. The Veracrypt benchmark shows my system can run over 10GB/s.

Nice! Did you by any chance measure passive temps (and time before thermal throttle kicks in during use) before and after heatsinks, see how much of a difference they make?

Software encryption costs performance on SSDs, I've read anywhere from 30-50%. Veracrypt is showing what your system is capable of but your not going to reach that because it is software based encryption.

Not sure why so many of you are struggling with your speeds. In terms of throttling, I have not come across any situations where I've witnessed it. It's my understanding after reading multiple reviews about the performance of this drive that I am not alone.
