It looks too old smile.gif

Seriously i had a series of hard locks which i trace back to the Vega card. The issues are fixed, but these hard locks broke the 960pro until it wasnt usable any more. I could not reinstall windows because setup said, drive was faulty. I had to RMA it, they could reset it, then had hard locks again and again same problem with 960pro.

They did send me a totally new drive. And this time i sold it right away. The reason for this is the followieng:

During RMA i bought a cheap 250 GB Samsung SATA drive, the hard locks persist, but the SATA drive did not break.

So there are two possible reasons:

a) 960pro firmware and drivers arent that "rock solid" as the SATA version
b) the specific drive had indeed a hardware defect.

I did not want to risk getting a faulty drive again after RMA, so ill never know, if a) or b) is applicable. smile.gif

I bought a 1TB Samsung SATA drive to have the same space and Windows even boots faster with it than it did with the PCIe3 x4 960pro drive.

Far too many to mention, but the one I want fixed is the serious sleep issue. Using this SSD I can go to sleep but it never wakes up properly. It just wakes for about 1 second then dies. In fact it NEVER comes back on until I am forced to re-enter the BIOS and then forced to save bios settings again, then it will boot back to windows. So sleep mode on Windows is impossible using this drive. I tried to change some settings in the BIOS thinking that might help, but all it did was completely destroy my Windows and Windows had to go into repair mode, and then when it was finished my Genuinely paid for status was gone. No matter what I do I can't seem to get Windows to activate, all because I wanted Windows to go to sleep like I am used to doing when I am not using the PC.

This exact same SSD works perfectly if I install OSX or ANY Linux distro. But in Windows no driver I have tried fixes it, not the default MS one nor the Samsung ones.

Now I dont have time to talk here because I have to spend my entire day trying to figure out how to get Microsoft to make my Windows install genuine again. Complete destruction of what was going to be a productive day, just one day after a perfect Windows install. I wish I knew why I even bother trying to stay with Windows when Linux just works so damn good already, for free.

EDIT: LOL, the troubleshooter says my copy is already activated, but the activation page in settings says I need to activate. It also tells me "We have found a genuine digital license for this device but it requires you to install Windows 10 Pro" ??? ***? It is Windows 10 Pro.

All from just changing a few power settings in my bios. Looks like I am forced to reinstall Windows yet again, 3rd time in 24 hours. Right after spending maybe 12 hours doing so yesterday with tons of settings and performance tweaks. Why does crap like this happen with Windows but not other operating systems? This couldn't be any more Evil and cruel...

NAh, don't do anything, it will self activate sometime later. Don't do anything and just wait few hours.
Been there done that.

Are you sure man, I mean if I go about setting up everything yet again and it doesn't activate I will not be happy, on top of already not being happy. It has always just activated as soon as I sign in before.

I have never seen this before. Its telling me my license doesn't match the hardware profile, yet it has always matched the entire time I have owned this system. I have not changed anything hardware wise, just a power setting and usb settings, then I went back to my previous settings like they have always been. This makes no sense what so ever.

EDIT: Sorry, I really shouldn't be unloading my Windows and SSD sleep issues into this thread. Its just that trying to fix a issue with this Samsung drive it completely brakes my system when it shouldn't do that. This is why I want more drivers from them, ones specifically improving sleep mode stability would be great.

If your license is digital, no hardware chages YADDAYADDA then yep, it is an error on their end.
Give it few hours, or, insert a generic PRO key for windows 10 (dunno if this will speed the process up) over the "Change product key" and reboot -- still need to wait tho.

Sorry to hear of your problems. I don't think it is the SSD. I sleep my Windows 10 all the time without issues.

Are you at the latest version of your BIOS?

You can call Microsoft automated activation to get it activated. I had to do that the other day because the Fall Creator's update has some bug that makes my system unusable, and in all of the reinstalls from backup it wouldn't activate. I ran their diagnostic and it told me my license for Windows 10 did not match my operating system, Windows 10. Error cose4 was same as yours but interpreted differently :rolleyes

EDIT: I did have similar problems waking from sleep when I had the 850 Pro as a boot sdevice. It turned out it was because I had spread spectrrum for the VRM enabled in the BIOS. Should be completely unrelated to sleeping, but apparently not.

Yeah I fixed it, I just reinstalled windows yet again and signed in and it instantly activated per normal. It is most definitely drivers. Drivers do not work perfectly on all systems which is why drivers are routinely updated to try and get them to work on as many systems as possible, its how they do things. If I install Linux, any distro or OSX it just works perfectly. If I go back to my SATA SSD, ANY SATA SSD it just works. Its this SSD and my Asus Intel Xeon based System using Windows 10. Sleep has never worked using my NVMe SSD and Windows 10 on this particular board. So I need better working more stable drivers, or Samsung needs to get some advice from the Linux developers who already have it working on my system (which is using obviously a different driver). Something... thumb.gif

But anyway, a reinstall for the 3rd time in 24 hours has done the job. Now to hope I dont need to touch any settings or Windows will just explode. lol

I couldn't wait, sorry bud. Installing Windows from USB 3.1 is super fast, literally 10 minutes. Since I know it always activates after I install a fresh copy, I might as well just fix it. Sure enough it instantly activated as soon as I signed in to a fresh copy. I think when I changed settings in my BIOS somehow this new 1709 build thought I had changed hardware for some reason. It was clearly telling me that Windows 10 was not authorized on this machine.

Its all good now and thank you for replying on a weekend. Its appreciated. Got a headache now thanks to this, so going to do all my app and performance setup stuff tomorrow and just relax the rest of the evening.
