yes. The big zen thread on Anandtech forums is considerably worse. There is really good discussion there once you block all the trolls.

well, this zen has twice the cores and 4times the thread handling, so whether it can be interpreted as impressive is subjective to opinion.

edit: i tried directly down sampling that i5's results to 3.4Ghz. 4 / 3.4 = 1.1765 * 119sec = 140seconds.
it looks like Zen is around 4times faster than i5-2500K in blender at the same clocks.
this points us to one thing, Zen has higher IPC, since no app scales 100% in multi-thread workloads.

On a point that actually matters here on this forum, let's hope it performs well when reviewed independently. Obviously, your priorities have something against that. No? Good.

Just would like to add my opinion on independent or 3rd party reviews alot keep speaking of.
I myself find user reviews much more informative than leading review sites reviews. Due to the fact of all the differing methodologies used, meaning that review sites I find often misleading at best and downright shilled at worst.
Case in point @cssorkinman (sorry if misspelled) bf1 info.
Too many take the graphs and such from review sites as gospel without regards to any bias they may have.
USER reviews from members here are much more valuable as a whole since there is no monetary or free gear incentives for their time and effort.
Just want to point this out.

Hopefully I can soon provide user benchmarks with the 8C/16T Zen thumb.gif
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
64 player ST quentin game - FX 8 core at 3.4 ghz Fury at stock low graphics preset ( cpu testing) - latest update to the game and video drivers as of 12/15/16. Lows during gameplay were @ 75fps lowest shown are during player deaths.

Considering making a thread about the BF1 multiplayer performance of my various rigs.

I am far less concerned with there being a "winner" as I am with AMD becoming a relevant competitor in the market again, even if it is only at specific levels. Competition in the market is good for the consumer. It leads to better products at more competitive prices.

BTW - I have absolutely no allegiance to Intel or AMD. I use whichever better fits my needs at the time I build. While I would very much like to see Zen successful, and I can't even speculate on the true outcome with the facts on hand. And I am fine with that. Things will unfold, and so far all that has come to light has been very promising.

Well you really shouldn't have anything negative to say about Zen then. Peopke here are forming negative summaries from I don't know what. And giving people a hard time for forming positive summaries.

People with positive summaries are working with facts while the negative ones are making stuff up.

So what about it being a 6900k. Did you forget about that?

I have never said anything negative about Zen. I think I have been very clear that I feel that there is not enough information to say anything negative, while two benchmarks are not enough to project across the spectrum to give a wholly positive evaluation. What we have seen so far has been very good, but it has also been very limited. I will have nothing positive or negative to say until there is a sufficient amount of info to base it on.

I have no idea where you get that I have anything negative to say about Zen.....
