. See , the games I play don't use anywhere near the amount of ram I thought they'd use. I don't know if its supposed to be like that and I'm being paranoid or if its really an issue.
In all of the games(crysis 3,AC4, BM:arkham origins, nfs mw(2012),modded gta iv,modded skyrim etc) I play the total ram usage stays around the 1800-1900mb (except for gta 4 which uses around 2200) mark even though I have 8 gigs of system memory.I've checked with both RTSS and Task Manager. Strange thing is that the FPS im gettin in these games is totally normal for my card. But this bugs me. I'm using a 64 bit copy of windows so I should have access to the full 8 gigs right. Ram usage should be much more that 1800mb when playing games like Crysis 3
So, is this normal , am I loosing any performance cuz of this??
Yeah, none of those games were made with the new average 8GB of RAM in mind. Those were made when 4GB of RAM was the standard, and Windows used half of the RAM.
You're not losing any performance.
While JohnSanchez is right, I'd also take a loot at your page file.
Previously I had 8GB of ram and my ram usage would never get above 5.5GB, the rest would always go in page file. If I disable it, the ram would get filled very fast to 7.5GB and crash the program.

Makes sense, but its weird....seeing games like that only using like that using only this much. I oughta buy some newer games , right?

I've started playing the Mass Effect series again, starting with ME1. I think Mass Effect still looks pretty good, but even maxed out @ 2560x1440 (the game is capped @ 60 FPS), my GTX 1070 says it's using 30% GPU usage, and the temperature on my GTX 1070 FE is staying right around 50C. This game used to crush video cards many years ago, but now... my GTX 1070 is basically running the game @ idle.
Yeah, games take up little RAM, but a ton of VRAM! Rise of the Tomb Raider, Deus Ex - Mankind Divided, and now Dishonored 2 all use up to 7.5GB of VRAM!

I believe RotTR just uses as much vram as you give it, since I've seen other people say they're using 7GB even at 1080p. Contrary to OP, I was shocked to see that RotTR was using something like 5gb of system ram. Seemed like just yesterday I was playing BF4 and amazed that it ate up nearly 2gb of ram...

With page file disabled I have BF1 using 2.8-3GB VRAM (ultra settings 1080p) and 8GB ram on 64 player maps.
