Buy new PSU based on future upgrades?

I think I need I need to replace my 5 year old 600Watts OCZ PSU as I just upgraded my system and it started to make a hissing sound, maybe it's not used to that new load. My system specs are as follows:

Core I5-6600K
Corsair Veangeance LPX 16GB(8x2GB) DDR4 2400
Gigabyte Z170x-Gaming 3 Motherboard
Samsung 250GB EVO SSD
WD Caviar Black 1TB HDD
Corsair Carbide 200R Case with 2 120MM fans
DVD-RW drive

Down the road I would probably like to buy a GTX 980 and 2 or 3 TB drive for added storage. If I buy a Corsair CX750 would it be ok or I would be wasting a little bit of electricity until I do the upgrades? I don't think the electricity bill would increase by a lot with a 500W vs 750W psu? Is it a bad thing to have an oversized PSU?

The G2 is a far better option and no you dont actually need a bigger PSU unless you are going to bios volt mod your video card
A system with a single video card is going to draw 350 watts at most and almost always less.

Ok, thanks for the info. My current PSU started to Hiss sometimes but if I lay the computer on its side it doesn't make the noise, do you know if I should replace it asap or can I wait till this EVGA goes on sale?

^This, the 550w will even be "overkill" but it also depends on what makes you feel comfortable with also keeping future upgrades in mind. I only mention the 650W because its basically "set it and forget it"

*EDIT*

If your currently PSU is "hissing" I would replace it. Personally, I would be worrying about it constantly if I knew something was off and didn't fix it and just leave things to chance, its always better to be safe then sorry. Also given the price and availability, the prices don't drop too much on these PSUs because they sell great as is. You may save like $5 or $10 if you wait for a deal but I personally would make the replacement now.

I've always been a bit of a Antec PSU user myself, but the ones I use are either Seasonic or Delta builds.

The G2's have gotten pretty rave reviews since they came out, they are what I would use personally these days if building or replacing.

A 650 is overkill, but you would not have to worry about it, was the point drazah was making.

The last PSU I bought was an Antec Gold rated 550, but I was just building a HTPC with an old X5650 to use in the bedroom, it just has a small OC on it.

It was on sale cheap at the time, so I went there as 550 was overkill even for that.

I'm rambling a bit, but I'd imagine you would be more than happy with a G2.

I've come to trust JonnyGURU over time myself on PSU's.

650W EVGA supernova G2 is not overkill if you want the fan to stay off / below 1000RPM.
CPU = 95-130W+ depending on overclock
High end GPU = ~ 200-300W without overclock

550W for comparison:

I was somewhat surprised to see that semi-fanless mode didn't last as long as the 650W unit today. That one, it still went fanless in test three. I'm not worried, mind you, but it's interesting all the same.
