If you were cross with Samsung for ditching removable batteries with the Galaxy S6 then you might not like what it's going to do with the Galaxy S8. We can exclusively confirm that Samsung is going to remove the standard 3.5mm headphone jack from the Galaxy S8. This means that all of your existing headphones will not be compatible with the upcoming flagship unless you use a USB Type-C adapter as the Galaxy S8 will feature a USB Type-C port. This also means that you won't be able to plug in the Galaxy S8 and use wired headphones at the same time.
Also rumored that LG is no longer going to have a removable battery in the G6. What is going on these days!
I just bought two batteries for my LG G3 and love the ability to swap out power whenever instead of waiting for a charge to 100% while using my phone (which harms the battery more afaik).
You know what would be a smarter idea? Not making your phone paper-thin. Instead, make it slightly thicker (a shocking idea, I know) and fit a larger battery in that way. Shaving off another half millimeter doesn't reduce the size much when you're dealing with a 6" phone. It would be like complaining a CRT TV is too big while watching a 65" flat panel, but at least with TVs you don't have to cram them in your pocket and there is usually no risk of any torque applied by the buttocks damaging the device.
Copying the competition is good when they are introducing groundbreaking features, but copying for no good reason other than "they do it" is just ******ed.
Apparently a few chinese oem's are already doing it as well. How much money can you save by removing the jack compared to the money spent on a .0001 reduction in thickness or increasing the MAh in battery life by 20 units?
IDK about drm and hdcp headphones.. people are willing to pay for netflix and spotify.. so there's no copy right / piracy debacle anymore..
What's awful though, is that the wireless headphones that can stay in or on your ear run really tight... that's just not the way to go.. My head consumes lots of calories.. and I need the blood to get there.
I wonder if every Apple hater that bash/posted in another similar thread will bash/post in this one as well. We'll see. If they are going to remove anything they should probably start with the battery anyway.
Makes me all the more smug that I haven't bought a latest generation phone and do not intend on buying a next gen phone either.
When I do eventually get a new phone, it will almost certainly be from one of the "lesser" brands that still offer intelligent designs for competitive prices instead of gilded feces.
I went from an i6 to an i7 and i don't notice the lesser thickness, but definitely notice not having my damn headphone jack. Was thinking of going Samsung next but not anymore lol
Yeah but you can submerge an iPhone 6 for weeks if you wanted to. I used my girlfriends to record underwater when we were swimming. It's really cool. Headphone jack isn't missed, at least in my opinion.

It's the same with the samsung, i've had mine in my pool with me for over an hour taking pictures underwater etc.
I was going to upgrade to the s8 after loving the s7 camera and the feel of it, but i don't think i will. I think it's lg next year if they continue to get android updates first like the v20 did.
S8 is off my buy list now. I hope Samsung gets punished hard for this in sales. I suspect they will anyways just from Galaxy Note S7 destroying the Galaxy brand anyways.
Or if they need to make a phone that thin they could add a 2.5mm jack? I don't like bluetooth it just doesn't sound the same.
Hopefully the oneplus 4/5 will have a jack. However it will be my next phone with or without a jack.
