Help me reduce the ambient temperature in my room!

So guys. I need some good tips on how I can reduce my temp in my room for the summer short on buying an AC which I am seriously considering at this point. It is summer in SA and my PC does not like it when it gets this hot in my room. Outside temps reaching well into the 30's C so I would guess my room is getting anything from 26 to 30.

Its 6m x 4m
Its my bedroom with my PC in it. (So the ususal furnishings)
I have a smallish ceiling fan that is always at full speed. Just doesn't seem to do much.
An east facing window, the windows are wide open to let as much air through as possible.
The door to my room is wide open to try and encourage the through flow of air.

Hmm thank you. I think I might just move my computer. My room is probably just in the wrong location of the house (all the bedrooms are warmer than the rest of the house.)

That is an excellent idea!

My 2c :
I live in Southern Europe and during the summer time, like in August, we are having high temperatures over here, as well. Like 30 - 33 Celsius, in my area. My house is fully air-conditioned besides... my bedroom

where I keep my PC and my plasma TV. I have a ceiling fan, with wooden blades, but it does not do ANY good when the ambient temperature rises above 28 Celsius. For such high temperatures only an A/C unit does the job. Also, I will replace my ceiling fan with a Westinghouse of at least 52 inches! Because my current one surely has the good looks but it does not do the job. An A/C unit is definitely required for us.

Only way to cool a house/room down is an A/C plain and simple. There is no other way around it if you need the room to be cool, also try a larger ceiling fan will allow you to run the fan at lower speeds and get good air flow still in the room

I mean it's 18:00 here in South Africa. And my PC is off and my room is still sitting at 29C. I decided to the industrial thermometer from the lab.

A/C is not the only way to cool a room, albeit the most effective. Swamp coolers, no matter how primitive, could lower the ambient temperature. If you have a small water pump from a fish tank, some tubing, a box fan, and some kind of filament (such as a thin towel), you can craft your own. There are multiple tutorials on YouTube that will put you on the right track. If you need links, let me know.

Bong cooler connected outside the house. would be perfect but it has to be constantly refilled.

- First get window blinds and if you have double glasses on windows install between them. Sun rays will cause most of the heat to build inside, so block and reflect sun rays outside.
- Second if you do not want to install air heat pump into your room you can get portable one, but they are usually very noisy inside. Remember to block hotter outside air with proper insulation.

Here a few pics when I did the same steps:

Note: The outside window panel has been removed and replaced by the foam is sitting on plywood! Do not foam your window shut!

Outside with painted plywood covering the window. Plywood is just a waste piece from construction yard with some concrete still stuck on it.

Later I got so annoyed with the air condition unit being too loud inside that I moved it outside and switched the panels to blow cold air inside

I replaced the "ghetto" cover with proper cover later but that worked as temporary solution. Unit has served me well since 2012 and last two years it has been on balcony exposed to elements and still running fine

Nice suggestions are these most probably, not capable of genuinely evaluating your suggestions, but are you aware that you're suggesting these to a person currently living in Benoni, Gauteng, South Africa = current ambient temp : 23 C, whereas you are living, and applying these, in Tampere, Southern Finland, current ambient temperature: -1 C ?

Anyway, whatever can help

It gets over +25-35C during summer and my apartment is facing towards the sun from morning to the evening so apartment transforms to a sauna without appropriate counter measures

Edit: When I have the machine running outside during summer my room temperature is around 22-23C when outside it is 32C. Air Condition unit then blows inside 16C air

I use portable A/C straight on to my rads

I'm looking at a portable A/C. More in an attempt to attain 20C ambient more than anything.

Couldn't help lol at this, I live in Australia where we get 30degree days in winter. Summers get close to 50 celcius, and without aircon, so does your house. Then add in computer and tv heat

In response to the question, I've seen those water bong setups using evaporative cooling and very little cost to setup and run
Also, like others have said, thick material blocking the windows on the inside, and a sun shade on the outside to stop direct contact of sunlight on the glass of the window. (Very high heat transfer rate)
A powerful fan is also great, not one of those cheap ones, a proper pedestal fan that can move some proper volumes of air, might be a bit louder than you'd like tho.
Maybe even some fan + duct setup that pumps hot air near your ceiling to the outside (and will draw cold air from elsewhere in the house into the room under the door or whatever.)
An indoor waterfall feeding of a bucket of iced water
