[VC] ASUS announces Swift PG27UQ 4K IPS 144Hz G-Sync HDR monitor - Page 85

Wish they could make something you could put on your desk that doesnt scream GAMER EXTREME! I dont want a distracting red light on my monitor. I know you can turn it off but still.

Should have been larger but sure price prevented that.

Waiting for 144Hz 21:9.

But it is a gaming display and that is pretty much what the market likes. Don't like the useless light, turn it off. Don't like the gamey colors of the monitor shroud & base...then paint em, or remove em thumb.gif

totally agree with not wanting the busy aesthetics.

i'm hoping dell comes out with something similar in the near future.

By the way guys: while I still think that 2000$ is fair FOR NOW, it may no longer be fair after a year or two.

Let's put it this way: GDM FW900 was basically unrivalled for 10 years, and the first competition came in 2015, with the presence of PG279Q and XB271HU (which obviously still have flaws of their own, but are first to deliver good looking picture on a fast refresh screen. GDM-FW900 was priced at 2500$, but if you count 10 years, it seems FAIR.

But, will this monitor last 10 years? honestly, I don't think so... it may be "overtaken" by cheaper OLEDs (provided they finally flood the market). In 5 years, it may feel like NVIDIA TITAN does feel after that period - obsolete.

I don't know why people keep listing the 55" OLED 60HZ TV as an alternate to this. I have two C6 OLEDs and while they are wonderful, they are not in the same Galaxy as what this 144hz Fald will do.

And yes....figuring in inflation and COLA....11 years ago $2,199 was the equivalent of 1.4 million Iraqi Dinars of todays money.....so I would say two grand US dollars is pretty cheap compared to 1.4 million Dinars

That was a different time and place, for the world and tech. This $2,000 FALD will be half price in two years and completely irrelevant in 5 years.

If OLED surfaces on gaming screens, possibly.

But since there's nothing "better" possible (at least for LCD), I'm sure that it will remain expensive for a long time.

Basically, nothing other than OLED can challenge this. Only AUO knows how to make fast IPS displays.

Well, there is that prototype Panasonic LCD technology that puts a light modulating cell of sorts in each subpixel, making it similar to self-emissive pixels like OLED. That's experimental, but other than that they can always add more dimming zones which would help greatly (as would a glossy coating). Sony's Z series TV has 620 if I recall correctly.

what I'm waiting for. wasn't thrilled with omen or Samsung cf34. this 4k grabs my attention but 27 inches sucks. and food for thought I just benched my Titan Xp's underwater stock clocks. 140 FPS 3440x1440 and 190 FPS in SLI. cards are monsters they will easily push this asus swift over 100 fps 4k
