[VC] ASUS announces Swift PG27UQ 4K IPS 144Hz G-Sync HDR monitor - Page 87

I do not forget, because I was following the Dell release as closely as this one for my upcoming build (that has been 'upcoming' for a while since I'm waiting on a monitor and then will build the PC around that).

I would have bought the Dell for precisely the same reason as I am looking closely at this monitor - it's meant to be a premium product in this category and offer me the best gaming experience. I don't post enough on this forum so my penchant for premium products is not (yet) known but it will be once this new build is done.

I saw your previous posts about value/salary etc. issues and to be honest the 'worth it' discussion only functions (for me) if there's a substitute good to consider. From your posts you are now implying that Acer will have better panels and, I suppose, their monitor may be better? Both Acer and Asus announced their 4k/hdr/120hz/fald displays at the same time, so reviews will help me decide which to get. Other than that I don't see what other substitute good has been announced - for those that would consider this monitor at this price point.

They are meant to have the same specs as far as I can tell, so if there's quality differences in the panels (both should be using the same one?) this may render one better than the other.

Well, let's not forget that I'm a poor Eastern Europe pleb, I earn 800 USD per month. So yes, this is beyond my caliber. I always assumed that I should not buy things that are more expensive than my monthly income, heh. For rich guys, this is entirely different matter, I guess. I'm not sure if 2000$ is "that much" to an American/ Perhaps it is, but isn't 2000$ a reasonable monthly salary for a Master's degree bearer in Telecommunications in US?

That aside, I'm not sure if the trend will continue, but so far Asus and AOC were receiving slightly worse panels on average than Acer - for the 144hz IPS monitors. This does not mean they were always getting junk panels, but the asus pg279q return rate is higher for precisely that reason.

Telecommunications is about an average of $80,000 per year, or just under $7,000 per month.

A decent wage, but far from being "rich". I would reserve that term for someone with over a million in the bank.

7000$ a month... Geeeeee. I wish Mr. Trump would actually do as promised and allow Polish citizens to visit US without a Visa. frown.gif

My 800$ (WHICH IS A GOOD SALARY IN PL, TRUST ME) seems like a joke in comparison.

But isn't the cost of living there pretty cheap? wink.gif In my area rent alone is ~$2,500/month.

well, you live in a house, right? smile.gif

I'd cost me around 1000$ per month to live in a house in a decently-located place (near the city I work in). Flat would be cheaper, still upwards of 500$ per month. Of course without bills (electricity, internet, water, etc.).

That is some crazy cost of living, considering $800/month is a good salary. Here in Texas you are looking at $750/month (on the low end, might not be good area ) - $2k/month ( new house/nice area ). It is interesting to see, but should know Washington is rather pricey to live, as is places like California. In saying that, you can find houses at crazy cheap prices or ridiculously expensive anywhere you live here in the states. I am in Dallas, TX and you will find plenty of houses that I would assume most do not pay monthly for. I think for something like this monitor to be justifiable depends all on your reasons of use. For someone to have an opinion on this monitor, they need to understand everyone's circumstances are different. It is not going to make sense for some, but it is nice to see options and updates coming to the market. IMO

We live in egypt with 2000-3000 EGP monthly , Almost $250-$300 . This situation was until 2013 when $1 was = 10 EGP.

Now the situation has changed , After our new failing president Abdelfattah el-sisi who made $1 = 20 EGP and salaries as they are . LOL .

So if this Asus or Acer really will cost $2000 which means 20.000 EGP until 2013 , Now I need the double 40.000 EGP . LOL .
So if i want to buy this monitor , i should wait at least another 4 years .
