[Anandtech] AMD announces AM4 Motherboards - Page 18

BloodRage I think. Almost chose that board years ago, but went with the Classified.

Need more mATX/ITX boards plis plox.

I wish more itx boards aswell as rest of atx boards sizes should finally use sodimms and put regular dimms to the graveyard. It would be damn easy to change this. New ddrx standard and no full dimms just sodimms.

Yes they did, good memory! I actually remember that board, though I can't recall the specific name...

DFI also made a P35 775 board called Blood Iron. It had a blood red PCB and white slots.

After watching the following video, it kinda killed my excitement a bit. The new chipsets are a bit to low spec for my liking in a lot of ways. I am sure they are fine for most people, but I am not crazy about what I am reading and seeing. The CPU's look really good but not the platform. Maybe a refresh in a year will be stronger. Or, maybe even server/workstation chipsets later on. But for me a top of the line mobo should have all the bells and whistles. Not enough to just squeak by.

I don't know why you're classifying the X370 chipset as squeaking by. There's more PCIe lanes available to Zen than there is Kaby Lake. Would it have been nice to have, say, 48 PCIe lanes native? Absolutely.

Well, I am coming from X79. So, I already have more PCIe connectivity and full 16x for both cards in SLI. Does not matter for 1080p but is a factor in 4K/surround gaming. Especially if you use Xfire since the cards talk to each other over PCIe. I would not consider the mainstream Intel chips for the same reasons. Especially if I get a couple NVMe drives. I don't want to build my rig and already be maxed out on I/O thanks to limited connectivity. Especially an issue if they are going to sell the top end CPU's for $600. I will end up sticking with Intel and a six core just to keep the stronger chipset. That said, maybe there will be a better chipset and CPU refresh in about a year. Or at least Opterons with server/workstation chipsets that better compete platform wise with X99 and the upcoming X299 chipsets.

I still think Zen will be a good CPU for most people, but I want more from enthusiast grade gear. So, the chipset stats are a bit of a letdown for me.
