[TT] Razer's prototypes stolen at CES 2017

While we don't know exactly what was stolen, I would suspect that the Project Valerie laptops would probably have more value than the Project Ariana projector. Rumors indicate that there were two of each prototype at the show, so it's really quite hard to know what was stolen.

I'm not sure how anyone could have stolen such a large item like the Valarie proto unless they knew how to fold it up. Very suspicious.

Update: (better, less spammy source

The product was taken from the Razer press room at approximately 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 8, 2017. A $25,000 reward is being offered for original information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of a criminal suspect."

If only they were actually functional...

It's not like anyone can sell them anyway.

Corporate Espionage my friend.

I highly doubt this is corporate espionage.

It's based of a blade you can just buy - and while it's an interesting concept, it's not even functional. I highly doubt that any company would even dare to buy them (or order them stolen). It's not like it's crazy tech: it's just a laptop with 2 additional displays.

What about this isn't "Functional"

Of all the things to steal at CES they took the worst products they could have chosen lol.
This is probably a bonus for Razer, considering the extra attention this will draw to the stolen products as everyone posts pictures of them.

The current news thread can give more info on perpetrators. wink.gifWarning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Don't triple down on your ignorance.

Both prototypes were devices that can run software across all 3 displays. The first one had the most flaws. The 2nd one was a refined version that didn't have the push a button and the displays slide out mechanism not working. Other than that both are fine as devices you could use after stealing them.
