New ITX build, need help choosing cpu and motherboard!

Hi guys, i'm starting to get tired of my BIIIG pc. My build fits a ex Dell XPS 730 Case (i found in a bin years ago tongue.gif): it's not only big, but it's also full of lights and leds. Recently i'm loving to play with my xbox one, because it's so silent and It allows me to stay in the dark. So i decided: it's time to switch to a mini itx build, but i have absolutely no experience with.

During the last days i "studied" a lot: mainly the case: i want it on my desk, precisely an Expedia (IKEA), so it have to fits the square box. After some research i found Fractal Node 304 (Black) It's price is right and he have enough room for my cooler CM 212 EVO

Now the hard part: Motherboard. Now i have a Asrock Z170 Extreme 4. I looked for Asus, my favourite brand, but i only found the Z170I Pro Gaming which is quite expensive, so i did few research more and i saw the ASRock Z170M-ITX/ac but i didn't find exhaustive reviews. What do you think guys? I'm not an overclocker, i only want to "squeeze" my (future) cpu to 4.2/4.4ghz: a "standard" overclock for what i see on this forum!

About the cpu. At the moment i have a i5 6400 running stock frequencies, but i can overclock it up to 4.6 (stable) via bclk overclock, but i don't really like this method; so i'm planning to upgrade to a K version. My "ethusiast" side yells 6700K, but my "rational" side says 6600k (7600k?) because i only use my pc as a Steam Machine and for web browsing. So i don't really need extra threads, and i can save money to updrage gpu in the next future, when i will buy a 4K TV to plug my pc in. What do you think guys?

PSU: now i have an old and enormous DELL 1000w psu (it came with the case). It's very big and a bit loud (and it hasn't 8pin cables)... so i need to "downsize" a bit. I found this Corsair CX650M. It's good?

I want to keep my RAM 2x8GB Corsair LPX DDR4 3200, my Cooler (as written before), and my little Zotac GTX970. And of course my SSD (Samsung 840 EVO 256GB) and HDD (1TB for data)

I found a similar setup on pcpartpicker, except mobo/cpu, here's the link https://pcpartpicker.com/b/Jzhqqs

What do you think guys? I need any advice you can give to me.
Thanks in advance.

Fractal Core 500 would be better than the 304.

Also stay away from the CX series of power supplies. What is your budget for a PSU?

I would personally start out with this motherboard.

You need to do some homework

The new CX are not great but they are much better then the old mediocre CX series.

ha ha, I have read your post already.

I would have suggested the evga g2 550 for just a few more dollars. Now that I would have feel more comfortable with.

Your set up sounds great for what you're doing with it. And I agree with the 6600K, a great CPU if you're not going to need hyperthreading. I don't know much about the Asrock itx boards but I can tell you that the MSI gaming pro tends to go on sale on newegg and I have like the BIOS much better than my mATX Asrock. For PSU there are obviously tons of options but over my last several builds I have loved my EVGAs.
