Can I run this?

Hey everyone!

I feel like I'm asking a new question every day. But anyways, I think I have settled on building a mitx system in a Lian-Li PC-Q37. The build will be using two 240mm rads, a GTX 1080 gpu, and Asus' new z270i ROG Strix motherboard. I was inspired to make this build after seeing Caseking's PC-Q37 build posted on Instagram. The build runs a full loop (cpu and gpu) and only has four fans two 80mm exhaust fans and two 120mm fans on the top radiator. I want to know if this is acceptable to run like this or do I need to add more fans?



I also have a secondary question. I don't mind the loop in that Lian-Li PC-Q37 but I prefer the loop in this PC-O10. Would I be able to run a similar loop in the PC-O10 or would the flow path now work? I mostly want to mimic the bends they have going to the cpu waterblock.

The loop in the Q37 would absolutely be fine. I wouldn't recommend the PC-O10 though, a single 240mm rad is cutting a little close, especially if you're considering overclocking.

You can bend the tubing however you want. 90 degree bends do add some restriction but it's pretty minimal.

How important are the exhaust fans if I use two slim fans on the bottom of the case? I really don't like the aesthetics of the two 80mm fans. I also would prefer to flip the fans around pushing the air out the top and pulling in from the bottom.

With a decent pump (any DDC or D5 variant) you can have quite a few bends before you see enough resistance to really matter so you should be just fine doing that. Are there really no fans at all on the bottom radiator in that first picture of the Q37? That seems a very odd choice, especially given that the fans on the top radiator are pushing down against the natural inclination for the warmed air to rise so the bottom rad won't even help much through convection. Ideally you want to roughly balance intake with exhaust with a slight bias towards intake if you're using a dust filter so you know all your incoming air is passing through it. If you have 2 fans on each rad, one rad intaking and one exhausting, you should be good without the 80mm fans. You *might* see very slightly better temps using both the radiators as intakes and keeping the smaller fans but the difference would probably be marginal stuff. I would consider reversing the fans from what's in the picture and having the air flow bottom to top both for aesthetics and to allow the warm air to rise a little more naturally.
