Solid Copper Wire for Extension cables

Hey all

A long time ago I saw a mod done where a guy used thick copper wire to make rigid extensions for his GPU and 24pin power. He basically took copper wire, added pins and connectors on each end and then bent the wires the way he wanted to run them.

Can anyone link me to that or give me some idea how he did it exactly ? (would really love to do this on my own build)

Regards

It'd be possible, but likely really inconvenient to use solid house wire for the 12V connectors, since you only need two actual cables.

Seems like you'd get better results reinforcing your bunches of cables with a couple of thick wires than using it for all of them - again solid core twin and earth, like used in walls and high load appliances would yield good results if you know a spark who would give you some scraps, otherwise a trip to the craft store for any malleable metal rod would do it.

I have a crackpot notion along similar lines but given the fact that my computer appears to be a pile of parts until you poke it with a screwdriver I probably shouldn't proselytise on that whole deal...

Looks realy cool^^ i think all what you need is a cutter, a soldering iron and the wire you want(need to hold the power that goes through them).
Cut the wires from the male plug.
Clean the plug
*1 solder the new ires to the old, (you need to hide them behind the board etc...
*2 plug the male plug in the motherbard
stick the new wires(or solder) them in the plug.

*1+*2 can be switched like you want

not so much work. the trick to get the bends right and clean
