Best Headphones Under $200? - Page 3

post #21 of 26
comfort matters to me, will i be able to wear them for long stretches?
post #22 of 26
I agree comfort does matter, and yes they are quite comfy. However they do require a somewhat large head. Main selling point is your motherboard sound should handle them fine, Monoprice has a 30 day return policy, I have only returned two items to them in last couple years, but both times went very smoothly and no re-stocking fee.

I admit audio is very subjective though, but it is hard to beat planar magnetic headphones, they just are so much more clear/quality sound improvement over even expensive dynamics. I prefer the Monolith 560 over the HE-400i even, has more bass and soundstage, fyi that translates into fun gaming lol

audio technica m50x if you want closed
Definitely not the M50x if you want any amount of soundstage. Lack of soundstage is atrocious for gaming, and the M50x sounds as if all the sounds are coming from within your own head. They are extremely narrow sounding. They are great for music, but not so much for gaming or movies.

@Threadstarter,
I'd say... Get a Sound Blaster Z sound card plus a ~$100 headphone, pick between the M40x or the Status Audio CB-1. The CB-1 has the best sound in its price class and is more comfortable, but, it lacks in build quality. If you want better build quality with slightly lesser sound and comfort, the M40x is the way to go.

Remember... a consumer's best friend is research. There are a lot of headphones out there and even more opinions. Take the time to find out what multiple people think about each headphones and then decide yourself.

It has a 30 day return policy, so there is no real risk on your end imo, so if your not blown away just return it.
