Audio sync issues when recording/streaming after extended uptime

Hi, posted this on the OBS forums last week but nobody could help me (no replies). It is not related to OBS though.

I have a curious problem of audio syncing (delay in this case) when streaming/recording, be it with OBS or with Steam In-Home Streaming. The issue seems to be related to my main audio device (onboard Realtek HD) and extended uptime (seems like it). Thing is, I boot up my PC, everything is fine. I can play, record, stream, no issues at all. Leave the PC on and come back after a full day. Now, I have like 500ms-1s audio delay in everything I record or stream (OBS and Steam). Rebooting fixes the problem (for the time being at least).

I know it's related to the device (or at least I think it is) because, for example, in OBS, if I disable 'use device timestamps' it fixes the problem (in OBS, can't do that in Steam). If I switch Windows output to Nvidia High Definition Audio, for example, OBS and Steam have no issues. Setting 'Speakers' again as default device (Realtek) and the issue reappears. A few minutes ago, just testing, I switcher to another realtek output (optical, I have nothing connected to that) and tried recording. There was no issue and switching back to speakers didn't reproduce the problem (so it's gone at least until tomorrow).

I don't know much about audio devices but does it have an internal clock that's getting out of sync after a day? Is it normal and can I do anything to prevent it?

Any help or at least pointing me to a place where I could get some insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi!

Thanks for your reply. Downloaded the app and ran it. Everything seems fine. Waited a full day so I could reproduce the problem and ran it again: same result. Still getting delay only if I leave "Use device timestamps" checked in OBS (switching audio device to Nvidia High Definition Audio solves the sync issues too).

Again, I can easily fix it unchecking the "Use device timestamps" box but I can't do that with Steam, where I have the same issue when streaming.

Any other ideas?
Thanks!
