Hey guys. Just as the title states, I would like some help. I tried OCing it in the past with another mobo. Got it to 4.1 and when I got this new mobo, I was back at stock for some reason. I'm not a pro and that was my first OC, so I had no clue where to get the info again.

AMD FX-6300
Asus 970 Pro Gaming / Aura
cooler master hyper 212 Evo

I'd like a stable and safe OC. Think I can run 4.5 on this setup? Thanks in advance everyone. Really appreciate it.

4.7 to 4.9 should be fairly easy to reach, depending on your ambient temps. Having a 2nd fan for your cpu cooler helps a lot. That motherboard can handle anything, so it comes down to your chip and your cooling.

You can use the unlocked cpu multiplier in bios to change speeds. Set it to x20 and you have a 4.0GHZ etc.

Unless he has a gold chip I doubt it very much with only a Hyper 212 Evo, at least not 4.9GHz, and 4.7GHz with very difficult and adding additional cooling to VRM's and NorthBridge and/or back of processsor, and maybe not even...

With a top air cooler or a liquid cooler, maybe...

So, besides messing with the multiplier, what else do I have to change? I remember having to turn certain things to manual and whatnot, but don't recall exactly what. I'd like a steady 4.5 for now if I can achieve that with this setup because I've read that's where you see noticable gains.

Well, have you increased your CPU offset voltage yet? If not, bump that up to 0.043750.

Also, in the BIOS, under Advanced, disable the following:

Cool n' Quite
C1E
Core C6 State
APM master mode

Lastly, please download HWiNFO64 here:

HWiNFO64 is a great monitoring program. Despite what you already use, HWiNFO64 is what I would recommend. Launch with sensors only and use it to monitor CPU voltage and temperatures.

As long as the memory is stable now all that is needed is to bump up the multiplier and the vcore voltage. Faster ram doesn't make a difference until 4.8 and over.

Just keep bumping up the multi and volts until temperatures start getting too high when stress testing. I like a cap of 62C.

Oh, sometimes it help to bump the ram voltage up to 1.6 or more. It doesn't hurt anything and it can help stability.
