[Build Log] 7700K - Lian-Li PC-O11

Hello All,

I am going to attempt to get a build log together for my next computer. I'm attempting water cooling for the first time and am jumping in with the EK-Kit X360.

I will try and give you a n00b's impression (that's me) and I'm sure I'll be asking for advice.

Please let me know if you have any questions and I will do my best to answer.

Components:
Water Cooling: EK-Kit X360 - Purchased
Case: Phanteks Enthoo Luxe Tempered Glass (Black) - Returned - Lian-Li PC-O11 - Purchased
Motherboard: ASUS Z270 Maximus IX Code - Purchased
CPU: 7700K Kaby Lake - Purchased
RAM: G.Skill TridentZ Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3600 - Purchased
GPU: 1080ti (upon release) - Purchased
Monitor: Asus PG279Q ROG Swift 27.0" - Purchased

I will be reusing my SSDs, mouse, keyboard, and my PSU from my current build. Give me your thoughts on my parts list.

I have decided to return my Phanteks case in favor of the Lian-Li PC-011. It was released a week after I purchased the Luxe. I should get it in house next Wednesday (15 Feb).

Here are some pics of the EK-Kit.

I am going through all of the boxes, everything is very nicely packed and the instructions seem very clear. It is good to note that the kit doesn't come with enough fittings for a drain line or with a fill line. It has just enough to complete the setup on the front of the box.

I think I will also be getting some additional fans for a push pull, but I'll have to see how this massive radiator fits in the case.

Thanks, and I'll keep you posted.

I have put together the initial setup for the pump. Though I'm not quite sure if it will fit if I mount in using the 120 mm fan mount bracket. If I mount it like the picture shows with the output facing the side panel, the T-Fitting and ball valve sticks out about 1.25" beyond the 120 mm fan screw hole.

it isn't clear from the Lian-Li website how much clearance is between where the bottoms fans would get mounted and the tempered glass side panels.

The Lian-li site isn't very clear on a lot of things wink.gif Nor do they take the time to answer the questions I asked.
Will be keeping an eye on this thread, the PC-O11 will probably be my next case.

It might be wise to test the new hardware prior to putting together the loop ninja.gif

But hey we have all just gone for water straight away once or twice biggrin.gif

That is a good point. I hadn't thought about that.

OK, I got my case and had a chance to start playing around with it. It looks really good and I am glad that I exchanged the Phanteks for this one, though my hopes of not needing to modify the case to get things to work are gone.
Please let me know if you have any questions about the case.

I got the motherboard mounted and now I need to see where I am going to put this flippin' huge radiator. I know that I don't gain a lot with a thick rad but I really liked the EK kit and I got a good price for it, so I have to make due.

So the first thing I did was try to mount the rad on the top. This left less than an inch of clearance to the motherboard.

And because the motherboard is an "EXTREME" (sarcasm) gaming motherboard, it has a lot of plastic cladding that makes it thicker. You can see the less than an inch of clearance with the 60mm rad installed. There was no way I was going to mount the fans.

I ran into the essentially the same situation on the bottom.

I think the front is going to be the only option, but I am going to have to make new holes for the front fan mount.

Need to move them up about an inch.

And the case doesn't actually include a USB Type C plug, just a space for one so you can buy it... 😣
