Hello everyone, I just built my first X99 system a week ago using this board and so far I haven't run into any problems, It has been running great. It's also my first ASRock motherboard so I hope I made the correct choice in brand since i usually choose Gigabyte as my motherboard brand, I studied for a week on which X99 board to get and Gigabyte had some pretty horrible reviews and ASUS wasn't much better sometimes worse.
I'm currently running this below.
X99 Taichi BIOS 1.40 (It came with BIOS 1.40)
i7-6800K No-OC, running at stock 3.4GHz, Turbo's disabled, speedstep and C-states all disabled.
4x4GB G.SKILL DDR4 2400MHz F4-2400C15Q-16GNT, XMP Enabled Profile 1 DDR4-2400
Noctua NH-U9S
CPU Voltage (Auto): 1.113v
CPU Input Voltage (Auto): 1.776
CPU System Agent Voltage (Auto): 1.192
XMP Enabled: Profile 1 DDR4-2400
DRAM Voltage (Auto): 1.256
CPU Temp in BIOS: 34c (Standard Fan Profile)
MB Temp in BIOS: 30c

Have one of those. Slow to post which is unusual for Asrock. BIOS needs a little work, with a RAID0 GPT array seems to keep stacking the same boot device until it's done so many times one can't access the BIOS without manually deleting them, P1.50 has a little improvement over P1.40 but still not right. Some gibberish text in the F11 boot menu too. Not a show stopper but annoying.
Started of with a 6800k but was a poor overclocker needing 1.28V for 4GHz, the builtin BIOS 4.2GHz setting had no chance of working out of the box. Decided to try a $300 Haswell Xeon and the BIOS settings seem a little lacking for that. Again not a show stopper and generally pleased with it for the price.
Slow to boot you mean when once you hit the power button to once you see the monitor turn on ?
On mine ill push the power button then about 4 sec the monitor turns on and shows the ASRock logo for 3 sec. i chose the 3sec in BIOS though, then it boots normally.
I'm curious about your 1.50 BIOS im not seeing it on ASRock website 1.40 is listed as the latest, where did you get it ?
About 15 seconds from cold to Asrock logo and then some more to get to the desktop. All SSD but W7 doesn't work well on this system to boot with GOP so video card is in legacy.
If your using XMP check your CPU voltages (SA), if set to auto might be getting more than bargained for.
1.50 has been on Asrock FTP for a while, maybe beta or something so not listed.
Oh okay cool thank you, yeah i have CSM disabled that's why my boot up is faster.
I am using XMP, i listed some of my voltages above, the SA voltage is (looking). Okay i don't know a way to find System Agent Voltage but in HWMonitor it says +0.307
I went into BIOS and tried to disable XMP for the 2400mhz profile 1 setting but it only shows AUTO and Profile 1, I set it to AUTO and then set the memory to 2400MHz rebooted and System Agent Voltage in HWMonitor still showed +0.307. So i just set it back to XMP and AUTO'ed everything back. Im sure ASRock knows what there doing i hope.
SA is just an offset from default (0.975V or there abouts IIRC) With 6800k and 3000MT/s RAM (32GB) my auto offset was +0.55V. A tad excessive as running +0.3V was enough for stability.
Certainly changes as per SA offset, well real offset, HWMonitor reads offsets 2.4% high (your +307mV corrected would be 300mV). At least it looks like they finally got the negative offset sorted after being wrong for a couple of years, signed numbers were treated as unsigned.
If your using HWMonitor to show that offset it is 0.300 not 0.307, FIVR offsets have been read incorrectly in HWMonitor since the release of Haswell to present day.
Here's mine, I ran P1.40 with E5-2683 V3 running stock. Default SA offset is 0mV. I changed the SA offset to 100mV (0.100V) while in the OS so you can see it. Red for default, blue for +100mV.
A couple of other things to note if yourself or anyone else is interested.
VCore SIO measurement in HWiNFO reflects only Core 0, the other 13 cores could be and usually are something different. Not sure what HWMonitor is reporting for VCore but incorrect on this system and it only shows one VID, again missing info for the other 13.
Temperature Target (Tjmax) is set by firmware (not me) to 92C in P1.40 and 90C in P1.50 while the actual default for this CPU is 95C. I wonder what the reason is for doing that.
Been trying to find stable overclock settings for the 6800k @4ghz with no luck so far. Started at stock voltages in fivr and my last attempt was at 1.31 which lasted about 4-5 while rendering. I am using it as a workstation/ render node for some c4d work I had to do locally, so it was a practical real world stress test where it needed to be on for at least a churning through frames.
All my other settings besides the multiplier set to 40, and fivr voltage adjustments have been left to defaults. I was trying to get my cpu stable before messing with the ram, so rather than run it at the 2400 xmp profile I left it at stock 2133.
From what I've read, other people have been able to get 4ghz at less voltage than that just fine, so I'm wondering what I'm missing. I've many systems in the past but never bothered overclocking anything so I'm fairly new to that part of the process.
Are there other settings in this bios I should be adjusting? Or just increase the voltage a bit more?
Just tried that. Sets the vcore to 1.240, doesn't actually reach 4ghz according to hwmonitor, reads 3.9 on full load. Lasted about 2-3 minutes on realbench.
after that I decided to bump it up to 1.32, with xmp profile 1 and so far it's been stable for several hours, did some rendering, did a half hour of real bench without crashing. But I'm not convinced it's completely stable yet.
Also, it hwmonitor reports 4057 as the max mghz, and about 3820-3980 under full load.

I was able to run realbench for 8 hours overnight without issue. Max temp I saw was 75c. Seems to be going well now, that bump might have been all I needed.
FWIW I needed 1.28V for 4GHz on my 6800k so not so different from your result. On top of that all cores were equally crappy so couldn't make use of TBM 3.0 :/ Sometimes we do well in the lottery, sometimes not. Anyway, gave me a good excuse to pick up a used production 14 core V3 Xeon for ~$300 which I'm quite happy with.
Guys, does anyone use Asrock x99 Taichi along with the Samsung memory M378A2K43BB1 (16GB module, 2133, UDIMM, non-ECC)?
