Before we get into the specs and prices I should point out that because these product listings are for the Australian market, the prices are out of whack due to currency exchange rates, value added taxes and other import fees. In fact, we looked at existing motherboards and AMD chips on the same site and found prices to be on average 40% higher than US retail prices on Amazon or Newegg.
There will be more B350 mATX boards, considering the platform supports overclocking I wouldn't be surprised if we see a few more pop up a little closer to launch
Seems like AMD is hitting the right price points on all fronts. The under $600 market segment is about to get the largest performance boost since the 2500k. The decision not to chase quad channel really paid off.
My personal upgrade path is putting me in an 8/16 at $600 and I could have gotten there at $500.
I think it has more to do with sales and RoI than Asus thinking m-atx builders are all on budgets. The market for enthusiast m-atx is probably not very big.
Definitely need good beefy smaller boards, as in cut down the PCI/PCIe slots down but not other connections or VRM etc. make a nice micro ATX even mini ITX.
My Z77 ASRock board is still going strong, not a single problem with it. Planning to probably go Gigabyte myself this time around. If Gigabyte dissapoints, maybe ASRock again.
Lol yeah Dick Meyer forced a transition to fully automated design in an effort to cheap out, so BD didn't deliver neither of its goals and to add insult to injury it was horrendous on power, too.
What I mean is that Jim is a perfectionist. He wouldn't put his name on something like Faildozer. I think the performance we've been seeing... from the leaks... attests to this. His reputation is how he keeps landing these big Chip projects from various companies.
if I can sell my i7 quad setup and use teh same money for an 8 core 16 thread, and I don't lose FPS in flight sim x I'll do it.
