At least you get a heads up.

I love conspiracy theories as much as the next guy, but EVGA's ICX upgrade 'promotion' also ends on the 28th of February. I got my card on Jan 19th, so as long as the cards release before mid-April, I should be OK to step up...but it'd be nice if we had more concrete evidence on this.

Well, it's no surprise it's their way of moving all of the unsold 1080's left in their warehouse before the Ti comes around

I want a big price cut on the 1080, so they (nvidia or amd, whatever it takes) better move their ass.

Its performance only increased with driver updates. If you're not happy with it now, you shouldn't have been happy when you bought it, the fault of which is yours.

This is no surprise. They both try to steal any thunder they can. Petty, but par for the course in a duopoly.

Anything higher than $649 and they can shove it. Tired of them gouging people especially with that laughable founders edition. Also sick of AMD for them being slow and clearly inept at what it means to be competitive.

For any business to let your competition go a year + of dominating the high-end is grounds to go bankrupt.

Of course they try to steal a little thunder from Zen release.

Taking the time to release a good product was the goal. What is the point of them releasing something that won't compete? It was clear they needed to step back on both the cpu and gpu front not only due to budget but due to perception. AMD doesn't have the mind share luxury that Intel & Nvidia have.

The high end cpu/gpu market isn't exactly a high earner for any of the companies. Better for AMD to come out with proper products and not rush crap out for the sake of something on the shelves. Bad products just mean more bad perception, and it's certainly a waste of money that would otherwise be used to invest into R&D for better products.

Ok, ok, you can buy the leather jacket for $649.

On another note, if they actually announce the 1080 Ti, this can be seen as trying to get people's attention to buy a Ryzen system and a new GPU. The only thing that happens on AMD's side on the 28th is the NDA lift, right? Or do they have an event too? If so, it's kind of lame.

Well, people are doing their taxes right now in the U.S. The timing is right to drop that check on a brand new Ti.
