AMD has just teased its upcoming enthusiast Vega GPU in a preview event for the upcoming Prey, a first person shooter from Arkane Studios and Bethesda Softworks. Members of the press were given the opportunity to get a hands-on experience playing a preview version of Prey.

The game is reportedly optimized for AMD’s Vega and will take advantage of the architecture’s plethora of new technologies. The demo that a lucky few got to play was also reportedly running on an unreleased Vega GPU.
The brand new graphics architecture is set to power the company’s next generation family of high-end Radeon graphics cards. Vega is AMD’s latest 14nm graphics architecture and represents the most significant leap forward for the company in half a decade. The performance demos that the company has showcased of Vega so far have painted a a clear picture of an enthusiast class chip, the fastest that the company has ever built, going toe-to-toe with NVIDIA’s GTX 1080.

I'll be upgrading from 290x , if the price/performance is reasonable I'll go AMD again. This Prey looks great , made by the same folk that done dishonored and Might and Magic Dark Messiah

Depending on the price.

It may not beat the Titan but at least it's a high end option to pair with Freesync monitors.

My partner went from 7979 6gb @ 1080p to a RX 480 8GB @ 4096p and dispite the resolution increase she was impressed with the cards performance, I'm hoping to update from a 7970 3gb 1080hd to a vega card and 4k this year so it's going to be fun!

Like you I'm also looking forwards to prey, haven't played the first games so I'm not missing out on anything in the respect of the reboot being good or bad.

I've had a couple of 7970s in the past too. Great GPU , probably the best one AMD has done seeing it's still relevant six years after release

Was thinking about buying a RX480 as they are fairly cheap and would do me until vega but it's not much of an upgrade from a 290x. I've got the MSI lightning one too so it's still a great card. Got that upgrade itch though

I think Prey is going to be like dishonored in space , which sounds great to me !

I was kinda hoping it will be at 1080 Ti level at first.
But as I am going to buy it for sure due to my decision to buy a FreeSync monitor last year, I am expecting it to be at least 1080, so I won't be disappointed.
Can only get better than^^

Equal to a 1080 while Nvidia launches the 1080 Ti next month. Same story as always, a full generation behind. AMD will never get ahead, ever.
