This pad
Has anyone had experience with this pad? I've been wanting to try out a glass pad for a while now, and this seems to be the only one available on amazon.
Too small to test tracking speed but the 3366, 3310 and Mercury all seem fine. Those are the only sensors I regularly use.
Quite a bit slower than cloth pads from what I remember. Can't remember which box I threw it in. Also, I've never tried an icemat. I'm fairly new to the whole mouse game compared to most folks here.
Ah damn. I'm probably gonna try it anyways just to see how it feels. I'll prob make a post here once i use it for a little while
Not at all in my case. My glass pad is smooth which means it has quite a good amount of friction. Also might have something to do with the mousefeet I make but they're pure teflon.
Thanks a lot ;P The fastest pad I have right now is this aluminum one by ACT-LABS. It's phenomenal, and for only $10! It's decently-sized as well. I personally think anyone who hasn't tried a hard pad before should get one, if they're still around. And it's not a problem for a set of Hyperglides so far.
Used this one for two months now and it's still the same. They have other pads that are painted, though. Make sure you don't get those, cuz the paint will peel off.Originally Posted by blobs
is the ACT-LABS pad relatively durable?? My last few hardpads had the coatings wear off pretty quickly (after a few months of pretty normal use)
also I got the perixx pad and it has quite a lot of friction like mouz said. not really my cup of tea but ill test it out for a little while first
Yeah, thought so lol.
Probably. I guess it depends on how satisfied one is with their current mouse/mice. If you aren't pleased with your mouse I'd assume the surface it's on top off plays 2nd fiddle for a bit. There's also not as much variance (or things that can go "wrong") with surfaces compared to the devices themselves. I'd be pretty content if all I could use was something like a Raindrop XL from here on out. Anything else is curiosity. With mice, it gets...a little more personal
Local glass shop lol. Sounds interesting.Originally Posted by munchzilla
heh. I'm down to 5 mice... but an embarassing amount of mousepads.
I would recommend trying to find a glass shop that will help you make a custom one.
just try to keep it <5mm for comfort reasons.
quit using mine cause it's 6mm thick, despite having some of the best glide properties ever.
it's not insanely fast, but the static friction is so nice and effortless. amazing control feel if you like faster pads.
Yes, BUT it makes them all even and flat. Plus, if you make your own DIY mouse feet they will usually be ragged and uneven and these pads correct these flaws. You'd be surprised how many cloth pads hide the uneven-ness of mouse feet.
I just googled glass shop for mine, and contacted the ones nearby asking if they could do satin / fine frosted glass sheets with sanded down edges.
