Hi guys
What is better between these two as multimedia purpose ?

Now i have an Asus Essence STX II, but an Apogee should be great for me to remove a card from my PC case and able me to switch motherboard format. But i dont want loss audio quality, better if i gain.

The Apogee is good as STX II as sound quality ?
What is more unforgive as track defects revealing ?

Depends on many things.. what headphones do you have, how hard to drive are they. Do you plan on purchasing other headphones, if so you have to pay attention again on how hard to drive they're going to be, because apogee is USB powered.

Regarding sound quality I can speak for the STX (first version) which is transparent I'm assuming STX II is the same in that regard.
Both Apogee and STX II should be transparent. You should not be able to tell the difference if they are gain matched.

From what I can understand on your last question is... you are looking for something more forgiving.. meaning as to not reveal defects in poor recordings, in that case this has more to do with the type of headphones you use.

Take for example my setup... transparent dac/amp + neutral headphones = not what you are looking for

Maybe your STX II with a Tube amp might please you more.

I have Audio Technica AD900X and Sennheiser HD599, so easy to drive.
But some reviews and feedback say that Groove is able to drive headphone like Senn HD6xx.

But what im looking for is to know if Groove can be replace as sound quality my STX II, so i can remove one card from my PC.

I believe I answered your question regarding the sound quality on my previous post.
