I need a smaller FPS mouse without any chronic switch problems

Hello, I had a Logitech G9X before, I got problems with its right-click button 2 times. (The RMA sent a new one and it broke too) I think that was a chronic problem since I saw some complaints about that issue on forums. It was using omron switches. (I opened it) I'm now looking for a new FPS mouse similar to a naked G9x in size. (I mean without its snap-on grips. Can be a little bigger, but not like a Naga.)

I use a Razer Naga 2014 for RPGs/MMOs, general usage and coding(snippet macros etc.). I just can't play FPS games with it because it's too big and side buttons are uncomfortable with FPS games. But I'm more satisfied with my Razer's quality.

My "FPS grip" style is a little different. My grip style is like a palm grip, but my thumb and little finger touches the table. My thumb and littlefinger have to touch the mouse pad, thus I can stop the mouse at exactly where I want. That allows me fast/precise sniping.(quickscope) My hand is medium-sized I guess. Mouses with thumb/little finger rests don't suit me for FPS gaming.

I thought Razer DeathAdder 2013 was a good buy, but I checked some images of it and it's nearly as big as my Razer Naga 2014. I'm looking for a smaller mouse. Actually, I need a narrower/thinner mouse to allow my thumb and little finger touch to the mouse pad/table. It should be equal or better than deathadder in terms of sensor. And I want switches without chronic problems.

Can I get some advice? Is Zowie FK2 a good choice? Are Huano switches good? I saw that it usually gets compared to DA. It also has the same price with DA 2013 in my country. It looks like a smaller mouse. I'm open to new suggestions. (As long as I can find the particular model in my country) Uber-high DPI isn't really important, I was using 800DPI.

Any PWM3360 based sensor would be better than DA13. Here's a few below:

Logitech G Pro is small and ambidextrous like an FK but a different shape overall and better sensor.
Logitech G403 is ergonomic, but a bit different in shape than the DA.
Zowie EC1 or EC2 are closer in shape to the DA than the FK.
Nixeus Revel is small and ambidextrous with a similar shape to the FK but with a better sensor.
Roccat Kone Pure 2017 comes out in April and is ergonomic like a MX518.
Tt eSports Ventus X Optical is ergonomic, etc.

Idk man, there are a lot of choices to be honest.

Logitech G Pro is 5.5cm grip width and definitely good.

I replaced switches on an old G5 many times, seems they break easier - shell design maybe?
heard many other older logitech mice can have this issue too.
either way, if he wants to 'upgrade' and is willing to try new shapes and sensors etc... I'd say there are plenty good options!

"imdavidboss" has some good suggestions.
I like the G Pro and G203 personally, not very wide and great performance and feel.

I don't think there's mouse without switches problem. Pretty much RNG luck.
I'm on the same boat though, soldering new switches works but it never feels the same like original.

Shape wise, Logitech G402 kinda slim mouse while retain ergonomic palm shape. Maybe it's good for you. Cheap too.
Alternatively, Zowie EC2 is like smaller deathadder.

On the other hand your grip sounds like me (thumb and little finger touching mousepad) and I love Deathadder shape.
One note about G402, there's not much groove on the underside of the mouse, my little finger sometimes squeezed during fast swipe.
I'm also using CM Recon. Pretty comfortable and the underside groove is decent. The quality not the best but it's not expensive.

From your description it sounds you'd love the Krait or Diamondback kind of shape. Krait 2013 may be worth a try, though it doesn't have a great reputation.

If you were going for a G Pro, get a G203 instead. By all accounts it's nearly the same for half the price.

Switches will turn to double clicking on any mouse in about 1 year of use, don't matter how well they are rated Omrons. Just use a contact cleaner spray on them and they last forever. I'm using my mouse over 10 years and I've replaced the switches once before I got tired of it and used the contact cleaner instead, works every time. Electronic parts stores or hardware store should have it. I'm using one that is very very old, doesn't even list what's it made of yet, pretty sure it's not environment friendly, most likely flammable

Just choose any mouse you like and fix the switches every year with a cleaner. Sure the switches get light after much use but the double clicking issue is caused by corrosion etc. of the internal contacts in the switch, not the spring being too light. I don't think any mouse yet uses say optical switches to prevent this switch degradation, because why would they, most people get annoyed and buy a new mouse instead, good business for them to make crappy products coz they sell more of them.

A4Tech does, but they also use god awful sensors so it's a pick your poison thing.

I doubt that. To my knowledge (as an IT professional who's worked in retail), switch issues do not account for most RMAs, which means something else is likely to go wrong with a mouse by the time a switch fails. On top of that, making a crappy product means you're going to ship a lot more "free" units during the course of their 2-year warranty, so it can't be as clear cut as you say. In most cases you get what you paid for.

my recommendations in no particular order would be:

Ambi mice
Logitech Gpro or g203 (I would go with 203 unless you're super competitive with your fps gaming)
Zowie FK
Zowie ZA (I think this may be better than FK for you because your palm will have more to hold on to with your grip style)
Nixeus Revel
DM1 pro s

Ergo mice
Razer deathadder
Roccat kone pure 2017 (smaller than most ergo mice so I think this would be good if you want ergo. coming out in the next couple months)
Logitech g403 (I don't think this will work with your grip style)
Zowie EC (No experience with this but it is a well regarded ergo mouse with decent sensor).

All of these have better sensors than you're used to so I wouldn't worry too much about the differences.

I agree with you. They don't even fix them, they just give a new unopened product for just a small faulty switch. That means faulty switches cost them more. I sent my G9x to RMA and got a new one.
But it broke because of the same reason. But the warranty period was over. I don't really know but it seems like lighter switches tend to have double click issues more. They are more sensitive in terms of click registering. This is why I don't want a mouse with omron switches anymore. But as I understood every switch type has a chance to cause this kind of fault.
