Yep, benching every game I have with the 4790k@4.8 to get a baseline and see if Ryzen holds its own at 4K. Unfortunately the Crosshair VI mobo I got just died on me so I have to go back to Microcenter once they get stock in and get it replaced. Most of the chilled loop is rigged up finally so once the mobo gets swapped we should be underway.

yooo so excited for this rig! and yee, ryzen's release is full of bugs and unoptimized mess, since it's a brand new arch and it's a never-seen-before scenario. it will get better, that's for certain. so you're changing your mobo for msi, asrock, gigabyte, biostar or stay with your current one?

Good news, the loop is ready to go just waiting on the motherboard. 2 RMA's of Crosshair VI's and if the next one is a brick I'm going Asrock Taichi. The amount of time without Ryzen is just ridiculous at this point although now the BIOS is a bit more mature, memory OC'ing is more tested and there's a tiny chance the new CPU will be a golden chip (RMA'd first 1800x due to stability issues independent of the motherboard).

After testing the loop on an 8320 the results so far have been better than I expected. Head pressure on twin D5's in series is just ridiculous. The Hailea 500a can get the entire cooler down from 20c to 10c in under 15 minutes. Leaving just the cooler plugged in when the rigs off, and can push water temps to below 8c. I haven't added the GPU yet as I'm waiting for Vega to see what the fastest chip at the time will be and I want to see just how cool the CPU alone can get down to. Should have initial results by the end of the week.

Interesting stuff you got there! Subbed!
Subbed to this! one question though, why the radiator in he loop? It's just going to raise the temps in the loop, when using a chiller, there is no need (Unless one is using a chillbox as well).

The rad is to pump in cold air to the case and allow the cooler to work at max power without having the water temps entering the block too low as to cause condensation. My hope is if there is condensation I'll see it on the rad first so I can get as far below ambient without hitting that threshold.

Welp cooling works great, unfortunately it doesn't offer any added benefit at the moment. Getting core temps to single digits still wouldn't let me get to 4.1 with 1.5+ volts on the core (LLC3-5, SOC 1.35v). I'll be reading through the CH6 threads here to see if there's something I'm missing but my last 1800x before RMA could hit 4.1 stable under 1.5v without even touching the SOC voltage. This makes me a sad panda. I'm not giving up but this cooling solution likely won't be staying on a Ryzen rig for long.

I've run core temps starting at around 30c down to 10c and didn't see any improvements in stability, voltage or clockspeeds. It would appear that unless there is a very advanced configuration required I'm not aware of or some setting i need to change, that Ryzen doesn't give a **** whether its on a stock cooler or an extreme cooling setup.

Here's a couple of benches still running the 290, I'll throw the TXP in when I get home from work just for ****s and giggles to see where it stands but after seeing all the Nvidia issues of Pascal cards in Ryzen rigs I might just slap my Fury X's in it instead. I'm not disappointed in Ryzen but as far as the goals of this build go it hasn't been great.

Benchmarking and tuning day 2:

Things went much better today as I was able to get my ram running at 3200 x 32GB (4x8) with core clock stable past 4.1GHz

Now I know for a fact this chip is probably at the 50th percentile at best, maybe even in the bottom third for 1800x's. It can't hit 4.1 GHz under 1.5v which is quite disappointing. However when pushed beyond 1.5v the chip can run realtively stable at 4.14 which is what I managed to run Firestrike with as well as couple UserBenchmark runs. Max bootable clock was 4.2 and required over 1.55v. Anything over 1.6v the mobo will stop and read an 'overvoltage' error.

Validations:
http://valid.x86.fr/3u5f5i
http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/19387474
http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/3447315

Optimum clocks and settings for the moment are as follows:

1.45v core
34 cpu ratio
LLC 3
Mem 1.35v
120 BCLK
3199 mem speed (2666 multiplier)
16-16-16-16-36 timings (manual)
Soc 1.15v
Disable core performance boost
