So these GDDR5X chips are basically lava... lol.

Hoping when they switch to HBM Ram that the thermal throttling story is VERY different.

that's actually REALLY good. i lock up over +150 if i mem oc much at all. i can hold 150 with a 500 mem clock but no higher. and even with no mem clock i can only keep +155 on an hourlong heaven loop. YOU LUCKY DOG YOU biggrin.gif

So my monitor is a X-Star 2560x1440 with only a DVI port. This monitor is capable of up to 130Hz with out it skipping frames. I used to run it @ 120hz with no problems and now with a active Display Port to DVI adapter i cant get above 75Hz. mad.gif

I cant game at less then 120Hz, it hurts me eye's man.

Probably going to just sell it with a the water block. idk

I need a card with A DVI port so i'll probably wait for the strix or some other custom pcb card that will get a waterblock. I have been eyeballing that strix though, hope someone make's a block for it.
the obvious move is to wait for the new 4k HDR high framerate g-sync monitors.

I put a +100 offset on the core clock, power at 120%.

Heaven starts out at 1974mhz. Then drops to 1962,1949,1936, before settling at 1924. Temps maxed out at 73c. So despite that even with a +100, the card was running at 1924mhz. Why?
why we love hybrid coolers and waterblocks.
You need to go set up a fan curve, though. it will help. since we know she throttles at 60 and then more at 70, i set fans to kick up to 70% at 58c to fight the throttle. at 70c i have it at 80%. set to 100% at 85, just in case it comes up (it wont). and the thermal paste mod seems to be worth about ~4c as well. maybe as much as 6-7~ with the Thermal Grizzly Kyronaut.

Really hopping to get 2050-2100 sustainable once that hybrid cooler arrives. Even @ 100% Fan in a 20C Ambient room it's not enough to prevent throttling. redface.gif
20c room? what are you playing in a fridge?

Kinda! Midwest winter. It's 1.7C outside, my window is open and I have all the fans in my case @100% and the GPU at fan 100% too while I'm gaming. Trying to eliminate the thermal wall as much as I can.

This was from a TXM review. Their memory broke over 100c lol.

I've clocked my memory modules up to 8500mhz on my TXM's which was enoughto get close to 100C via a thermal gun on the backside vram chips when I was stressing back then. Course this is gddr5 on maxwell, but gpu memory seems to get toasty at times.
